Only thing I've ever used either purposely or otherwise was the red token event and while still technically wrong I stand by my decision to get enough red tokens through newts so that I could get all of the halloween exclusives because the event was retardedly designed. BOSSES ONLY. Not only that but the fact that it was retardedly designed was proven when they did it again the next year and made EVERYTHING drop them. They realised it was a poor choice. Either way, I accept that what I did was technically wrong and would have accepted the consequences had any come.

It would be more beneficial to remove the monster summoning skill for WH's than any amount of mass-bans. He's saying that Nexon should perma-ban all people who abused the exploit. Never mind that that's about 30% of Maple, it would prove supremely ineffective. If you look at Basil right now, you'll find loads of people saying that if they get banned, they'll start to hack. He advocates banning people who, in all likelihood, didn't think about the impacts of this at all. It would be a waste of time and a loss for Nexon; and would be like chasing a petty thief instead of a serial killer. Ineffective, useless, damaging in the long run, and completely off the point.

When most people get ban after all their hard work they just quit the game. Going out their way to just hack and be on the edge every time is not worth it. Those hackers do get banned eventually and they start all over again. Also using basilmarket as a refrence lol Not all 30% of those maplers will turn to hacking. 20 new hackers is nothing new

So, the solution is to never take any action against petty thieves?
that sends a message that there will be no punishment for their actions, which makes them do it again the next time its possible
also, dont you think youre slightly biased in that all your arguments revolve around not banning people for doing a glitch that YOU abused
you dont care about community, you just dont want to get banned

Well, the solution is to confiscate what they stole, and give them a short timeout. A week long ban and removing the illegit levels would satisfy that. The question is whether Nexon has the sophistication to manage that, cause a perma-ban is a lot easier for them to arrange.

you dont care about community, you just dont want to get banned No, my solution is to have priorities in order. Murder is worse than theft. When you stop the murders, you can focus on the thieves, or somehow reverse the actions of the thieves, give them another chance so to speak. I recognize that I violated the ToS and that I face a permanent ban. I've basically resigned myself to this. I really DGAF about getting banned for 30 days, I'll be gone for about 28 of those. If I get perma'd, I'll either make a new account and start from scratch (really unlikely) or just quit, and focus on school. In reality, I'm quitting after the summer ends. But a large amount of people abused the glitch, and a large amount don't deserve to be perma banned. I do not put myself in that group. I probably should be banned. But a large amount of the higher-level population, sick with LHC grinding, did this and would be banned. This would be disastrous for the rest of the higher-leveled people, and would create a large gap in Families and Guilds. Nexon has all legal right to perma-ban everyone who did it, but it would be disastrous for them if they did.

here's my opinion on the business:
i am in no way defending monkey, but if nexon decides to permaban everyone who exploited this glitch, i will be very pissed off, why?
because it would show me, that in nexon's hopefully existing list of issues, which contains:
hackers controlling the free market
hackers crashing whole channels
hackers duplicating time and time again unique and incredible (also hacked) items to control the fm even more
hackers farming meso and rising the economy
hackers DC'ing you and everyone with you so that they can train in X map
bunch of non-hacking idiots abusing an exploit nexon itself caused
in that long list, it would mean that the idiots, who never in their whole life have touched a hack, are more dangerous and should be dealt with more firepower than the massive list of hackers.
now, don't read me wrong, under normal circumstances with a more competent company, say blizzard for example, they would get perma'd and i wouldn't give a rat's ass, because they actually deal with all the hackers, to the point it's noticeable, but with nexon's already precarious anti-hacking system, how can they actually permaban "legits" when the only reason they even decided to take the chance was because of nexon's own ineptitude.
phew, kinda needed to say that, probably should have gone in the ranting section <.< but i am fed up with both hackers and nexon due to this past month.

There's a small chance that they are addressing other hacks/exploits, and/or are trying to figure out who to ban, if they need to, and for how long. If they wanted to just take away the levels gained from HPQ, then that could take quite a while. That would be the most subtle and effective strategy, and the one I would endorse.

This. Though i don't really see the Red Tokens incident as a glitch abuse, much more a bad choice of Nexon to think about putting non-bosses to drop it. The same applies to Boomers some years ago in NLC, Nexon has coded them to be like that, but in a day, saw that it needed a nerf. It wasn't really something about abusing a glitch, but enjoying what you had by the moment.
Glitches are more likely the OPQ glitch, that was really an example of glitch abusing, since it was a bug, players found out and started abusing it. It wasn't a bad choice, but an accident that it happened. Things like the tokens, and boomers, didn't require ban because Nexon saw that they wanted to implement it that way, but it caused chaos.
But this Rex thing? Sorry, but i doubt someone thought that it was normal to get that much of EXP on high levels, to go from like 120 to 160, and thought abusing it couldn't be a reason to be banned. It's just too much naivety. Though i don't really think they're going to do a mass ban this time, because such thing could be easily reverted with a rollback, i won't be surprised if they do it.

Nah, this is all exploitation. Any attempt to rationalize it is worthless. Even the example I provided. Like I said, it was technically wrong, I just don't regret it. It didn't benefit me in any way besides getting some halloween costumes which should have been more easily obtainable (and were the next year)
Boomers is a really bad example. "Enjoying what you've got while you've got it" is like the glitch abusers motto. If that were an effective justification than all glitch abuse would be okay.

As you know we have 3 issues that have come up today. Hob King PQ exploit, the unresolved disconnection issue that disconnect players from maps, and the trade block.
Even though we don't have a maintenance schedule yet, abusers of the Hob King PQ exploit will be dealt with. We are concerned with legits being accidentally caught in the mix up so we are working hard to minimize that. Players who are not suppose to be trade block will be released after the maintenance and hopefully the disconnection issue will be resolved! Ahhh what was a mouthful!
Thank you, guys!
