OT: I would like for Nintendo to do a little better in implementing online play this time with none of that friend code crap. pomegranate's been annoying for years.

granted it is innovative, but there's a reason that consoles use the fricken television. You shouldn't need to look at the controller to use it. If all the new console is doing is improving graphics and making already expensive crap more expensive, then i'm going to stick with the Wii.

I'm guessing most games are just gonna use the controller screen for tiny things like maps

Workable online, better motion detection, player feedback, the ability to process something greater then "X" gigs without sh*tting itself, opening itself up to 3rd party developers, games that get a bit more recognition then nostalgia and "it's great for a Wii game" would be a start.

I don't think a firmware update would be able to cover all that. They'd have to rework the system's internal software no? Plus they still have to get into the HD gig since now that HD has been universally adopted. (they said they'd jump right onto the HD bandwagon as soon as HD is everywhere)

If you're not going to get a skill to a point it reaches it's maximum potential you might as well never added into it, other then to butt f*ck around.

Maybe it didn't reach it's maximum potential in terms of the quality games that appeared on it. But it did a hell of a good job in terms of reaching it's max potential as a consumer product.

Looks like yet another SOOPER INNOVATIVE console that will fail to live up to its expectations. When is Nintendo going to learn how to compete with the big boys? It's not about doing something that nobody else has done. It's about making video games that are appealing to an audience that is over 12 years of age.

They shouldn't, because they are just schemes. Kind of like the Wii, but worse. It's no secret that the Wii has the highest sales and that is only because so many toddlers and middle-aged women are attracted to it. Can you blame Sony and Microsoft for wanting middle-aged women to contribute to their sales as well?

Basically it made a lot of money and not a lot of progress even though it had the opportunity to.

It's the Avatar of gaming consoles: pretty aesthetics that every dolt and their mom will droll over, but anyone that's actually watched Citizen Kane (A.K.A. played a game that was good for being good and not good for being nostalgic or involving getting off your ass) can see the obvious flaws beyond the one good mechanic that in all honesty isn't all that good (or I should say "perfect").

Was watching the news, they mentioned in the technology section that Nintendo is retiring the Wii and revealing the next console sometime this year (And to go with that memo from nintendo.co.jp, what better place than E3?)

You can only keep trying right? They thought the Wii would work as a product, and it did. Now they're looking to improve by producing a new product. Nintendo doesn't move by the product life time standards of other companies. Their timeline is every 5-6 years, and they're about to reach that deadline. Anyways, maybe opinions (yours and mine alike) will change once E3 hits.

You're acting like any console puts out any decent games anymore. Other than the Zelda franchise, I tend to stay away from console games. All I ever hear about with XBox and PS3 are FIRST PERSON SHOOTER GAMES! "<Company name> HAS JUST RELEASED <generic FPS title> 3! THIS IS THE MOST BADASS THING SINCE FOREVER!" .......Seriously? You point and shoot. What's so ground breaking about that? ._.

Console video gaming, as a whole, has been disappointing since the end of the Nintendo 64 era. Even then... I felt like there were a lack of great games.

I'm not really going to be too impressed with video gaming until they start making classic-style games that would make gaming fun again OR until they release one of the following :

Virtual Reality (I don't see this ever happening, to be honest...)
Holographic Video Gaming (I'm not sure how this would work, either)

Motion control is decent and all, but is it really great for gaming? I think using controllers is a much better option for quite the majority of video games. Motion controls seem nice on sports games, dancing games, or even games like Zelda (while still using a controller, of course... If it turns into Kinect type gameplay... I'm not touching it), where motion controls would actually enhance the game. Even then... it can be too tedious to bother with, especially if you've just gotten off a long work day or something similar.


TL;DR : I'm not excited for the next console at this point. As long as they don't delay Skyward Sword and release it specifically for the next console, I don't give a sh'it. If they do, I'll rage and my blood will boil hotter than all of the lava in hell.
