3DS discussion with Tokyo Gameshow Tidbits: Ace Vs. Layton

I bought a 3DS yesterday at the European launch. I'm just going to share with you a protip for playing Pokémon and original DS games. When a DS game loads the OS scales the game to fit the new, larger resolution. This can make the colours look washed and the game like pomegranate. After a bit of google research I found the best alternative. If you hold start and select while the game boots it will not scale it and you'll see the game at it's original resolution. I much prefer this as the colours look a lot more vivid at the expense of filling the screen. Just thought some of you ought to know.

I got Street Fighter IV on it, it's amazing. Well, both the 3DS and the game are amazing. The graphics are superb for a handheld. Just waiting now for a good game which has story, not a fighting game. OoT/Kid Icarus/Super Mario please now.

No-one believes me when I tell them it's 3D, but not the 3D you're used to. Imagine the screen had a box coming out of the back of it and all the action takes place in that box. It's that sort of 3D and it works well.

Although, I wouldn't mind some titles coming out of the screen, if possible. It'd make a change.

Holy crap, my eyes are fucked anyways. I'm seeing this screen in 3D...

Got mine with Street Fighter and Nintendogs. Haven't had much time to play (homework and my birthday party about to start), but I've had a lot of fun. Haven't been able to find "the zone" for 3D yet (I was stuck in the car with it for an hour so I couldn't do 3D due to glare), but when it works it's good. Slide pad is great; not quite used to it for Street Fighter yet but I'm not even good with a fightstick, and this has no gate to stop movements, so... yeah. Really loving the QR codes for Miis thing- it scans and adds them very quickly.

My only problems so far are that the power button is right where start/select were on the Lite. I think just putting turning off the power as a selection on the home screen PS3-style would have been better, but that's just me. Also kinda annoyed that you can't change what your personal Mii is, only edit them (I kinda rushed through mine so I could add Miis), but maybe they'll patch that?

3DS Launch Lineup is full of crap. I'm waiting for Zelda/Paper Mario/Mario Kart or something, which should be around my birthday anyways. (Reports of Zelda coming out in June)

the whole sweet spot thing seems to be BS. I played laying down and had perfect visuals (or maybe my comfortable position matches in with the 3DS sweet spot).

Got Super Street Fighter 4. First Street fighter game I ever bought, plays very well and looks damn near like the 360 version (non HD obviously)... i especially like the quick special move buttons on the touch screen.
