Game Disconnecting Issues w/ Windows Vista or 7

Not true. Windows 7 forces maplestory.exe to close at random points while the program is executed.

Are you sure its windows 7 that forces maple to close, or is the nexon's poor programing that run so unstable making the system go crazy?

maplestory.exe use over 60% of my cpu(core 2duo 4500 @ 2.2ghz x2) and 370mb of my memory ram. while starcraft 2 use like 30-40% cpu, and a bit more than 500mb of ram, but i play starcraft 2 with medium-to-high graphic.

Disconnecting when leaving cash shop.
Disconnecting when changing channels.
Disconnecting when changing characters.
Disconnecting during multiphase bosses.
Disconnecting while entering a new map.

That's basically what's been happening to Vista and 7 users. Did I leave anything out?

Well, i spoke with a few people that use win7 aswell and don't d/c while ccing, going into mts/cs, can afk for hours w/o the client just closing, they have the win7 HOME PREMIUM edition. most people that i know, and have win7 d/c issues, have win7 ultimate or professional, I'm suffering all those D/c issue, and i have win7 ultimate too, i have a netbook with win7 home premium, this weekend i might give a try and run maple on this netbook, see if i have any issues

Do you suffer any random d/c? like when you go to cs/mts, change channel, go on a super crowded map, change maps too fast, client closes after being afk for 30min or more?

Client randomly closes, sometimes I disconnect off the cash shop. I don't disconnect when I change channels or when I enter a super crowded map. Changing channels "too fast" leads to a C++ error, on XP or W7.

My point is they are at least acknowledging it now instead of just tell people via tickets what to do. Some companys wont give even that. NEXON isn't a terrible company, they're bad but not terrible. I heard some people with Windows 7 don't have any issues. Hopefully I'm under that category when I install Windows 7 over the weekend. It'd be ridiculous if I can't even run MS on that computer since it's quad core 3.2 ghz, 4 gigs ram and gtx 460 >_>

I don't think it matters what OS or type of OS it is. All of them are having some issue. Take me for instance, I have a Server class OS (Win2K8 R2). By all definition anything running on this is modularized and should be rock solid stable. Yet for me MapleStory exerts all known bad behaviors ever listed.

I think it's something on Nexon's end they haven't realized. Now given the benefit of a doubt, it could be something as simple as a setting no properly configured during the compile phase, software used on their own network, or even a bad API call. Still, they should debug the client more than they do.

My disconnection happens sporadically, from hours long intervals to once every other minute. The fashion, however, is stable: While in-game, booted to Log-in screen with "cannot connect to game server" notice, followed up by getting booted to Windows 7 Ultimate's desktop with "cannot connect to login server" notice while relogging with or without success, or even doing nothing.

I'm not addicted really. I know where my priorities lie and i HAVE stopped when i know i just can't play. Addiction is when you absolutly cannot stop playing the game and will put anything and everything aside just to play that game.

If i want to spend my free time playing this game because i enjoy it, then i should be able to enjoy it with whatever few minutes or hours i get to log in. With this DCing, i can't even enjoy going to zakum with my guild (imo bossing is the most fun part of the game, why would't you want to play with a bunch of friends and take down one of the hardest monsters to take out in a game?)

Theres a difference between complaining as a consumer and being purely addicted. I look at many MANY posts on SP and not saying your one of them Locked you seem to be a laid back person. But what I'm talking about is the same people in this thread that are complaining and whining are the same god dam ones in the server check threads whining because the game isn't up yet. THATS addiction. Looking back I worded myself wrong I do that a lot especially when I'm pissed. What I've seen on SP a lot recently is pure bull shyt why?

Well at least they are TRYING to help by posting it because honestly..not everyone knows about how to run the compatibility mode..and it says it MAY help reduce game issues. Yes, I am having problems with DC and others as well but I am not going to sit here all day nagging at nexon for not fixing it any sooner. At least they addressed the problem to let players know they are aware of this situation and are most likely looking for solutions.
