First: Wow @ the amount
Though, I gotta commend you for being honest with this. That what can turn this "forbidden" topic into something that's discussable w/o reprecussions. xD
As long you enjoy it, why not? xD

Just for comparison's sake, I guess, from a high school/college student...
Total amount spent on NX for myself and others since August 2005: $1125
So about $22.50 per month.

You my Princess, only you.

I have 36 Nexon passports at last count, many with maxed slots of at least one type (use, etc, equip). I often spent an hour or more just moving items between characters. Even now that I've quit I'm still spending a massive amount of time organizing my remaining inventory, shoveling between the various mules into the accounts I want to be dumping the items into MTS on.

lol I'd be the last person to defend someone spending money on Nexon...but its better than spending the money on alcohol or cigarettes.

My Case for spending so much (and most likely another $850 not in this house) over the past 3? years is: Boredom, money to blow, and alot of free time could lead to this. Provided that all the mony that I spent on nx was given to as a gift, or for no reason what so ever, I never really cared. Any mony from work or any odd jobs was spent on food, clothes, movies, or anything of that sort. GG me n_n. If you wanna' buy nx, too much really depends on you =D

good thread ^_^
ive spent a wee-bit more than u--just shy of 10 grand in 5 years of mapling--(with the last 10 months being solely meso converted to NX so its 10k in 4 years) i don't regret spending the money as my many coworkers drink and smoke and EASILY spend 300$ in a weekend of dining out and 100$ bottles of wine... hell my mom alone goes with her friends out of state every 3 months and buys 800$ of tax-free cigarettes---TO EACH THEIR OWN!!
in the past year i finally figured out how to turn my mesos into 250k of NX each and every month and it's served me well!
and as a side note---my 10kUSD in NX supported 3 seperate accounts- lvl 200 bish, lvl 200 IL and 15x pirate/FP/KoC. PLUS--about 2kUSD of that went to gifting for my BF and friends. still WAAAAYYYY less than i would have spent going out with coworkers and friends!!

I knew you had to fall in the higher than me category just based on the 3 of 200s. Putting any of my other characters to 200 would've cost a fortune if I tried it at the same pace as my IL. Even another mage would've been an extra 30% tacked on because there's only so much synergy I could reuse from the previous.
One of the many many reasons Maple ran out of things to interest me.

I just spent about $5000 on a family vacation.
Except for a few souvenirs (total value approximately $100), I have nothing to show for it.
Just memories.
Who's to say I spent my entertainment budget better than you did?
Spending on NX is only a problem, in my book, if you spend money you can't afford.
Same with time spent on MapleStory, btw.

As long you haven't destroyed your life in any way due to this, I don't see any problems with it.

Really just going off of what everyone else has said. You managed your money well and reeped the fruits of your labour. I don't see anything wrong with it if you're not setting yourself back by doing it.
Personally my three years of playing has cost me just shy of 3k. Admittedly only about 250$ of that has been personal money that I have earned. My parents have always kept money in my bank account for me to use whenever I wanted. There are stilulations for me receiving the money, and as long as I met them the money was at my disposal. How I've spent the money in game was...well...not very smart as far as I'm concerned. But going back I could have wasted the money in so many different ways, and at least I've gotten a long term enjoyment out of it.

Pretty coool to have so much money to waste on other things than maple but paying money for NX is ok as long as you can pay your bills. Life is to short to safe all your money and die like a member of the Kelly Family...

I used to throw all my cards away. Sub-consciously thinking if I never saw the amount, it never happened. In any case. The time I saw this with my own 'stash' if you will... I restricted myself, forbidding whichever you prefer, from buying NX cards and would only do so if absolutely needed. How can one define need in my terms would be... take the 36hr 2x event, I didn't have enough merchanted NX at the time, so I went and bought enough for just the event. Otherwise, all my NX comes from my hard work merchanting only now-a-days. I think maybe over the years I have spent about half or a little bit less than eos's expense.

Heh, I used to record the card #s just so I could tell which ones I'd cashed in and hadn't.
I stopped that somewhere after this list.
