Yeah... Nexon should close all the populated servers from those "newbies" =). Maybe close it from the premiere date to the ending of July. (anyone agree?)

I completely agree. All "noobs" think that populated = happy fun time good! =D. Which is why Scania and Bera are bursting at the seams and why channel 1 never drops below super populated. I mean, there are pineappleing people in AQUA ROAD in channel 1! Only people who explore should be there! Also, why did Aqua Road die? Don't Gobies give good exp and isn't it a great place of Heal training?

On Topic: I suppose advertising is generally a good thing, but it seems no matter what NEXON does as far as this goes, they try to make people misjudge a book by it's cover.

But Maple is just people putting snails on their nipples and hitting each other with fish.

I think Nexon would have better results if their ads included a KS War and not the "cute" stuff that goes on in Maplestory. And please don't include stuff from real life. It just doesn't mix.

Of course, those World of Warcraft ads with Mr. T and Ozzy were great, but I doubt Nexon could emulate anything like that.

I could see a Maple for Wii. Imagine it now... swing the Wii Mote wildly to attack! For warriors, your weapon will slash forward. For mages, you will move your wand/staff! (oh em gee hold A or B with this to use skills) For bowmen... um... and for thieves, you will throw throwing stars this way!

Anyways Nexon coulda picked a better movie XD (no offence) but Transformers woulda brought so many people. Robo Pet, Golems lol.
Plus I don't think it'll be that bad not alot of new players get pass 1st job before quitting. Happened to me when I first started. (level 11 was fking hell T_T)

Anyway, Google Trends basically proved that Maplestory isn't as popular as Halo and World of Warcraft, but I there was really no comparison. Both the games you've compared Maplestory with have been around for ages. Halo's been around since 2001, and Warcraft games have been around since the mid 1900's. Both of these games have had time to grow, and slowly acquire a large fan base. Blizzard has had over a decade to gather it's fanbase of players. Halo on the other hand, was made successful because it was one of the only decent shooting games on the XBOX.

It's hard to compare Maplestory with these other success stories, but you can't deny that the Maplestory fan base is growing. Besides, take a look at Singapore and the Korean language. Maplestory seems to be flourishing there. It's only going to be a matter of time because this game becomes as popular as Halo or World of Warcraft. Hopefully not though.

This time, I took into account people typing "Maple Story" and "MapleStory" and the games Halo, Halo 2, and Halo 3.
As you can see, Halo has a larger SVI (Search Volume Index) but only spikes when a new game is released, but the SVI stays at the same rate as WoW and MS. The reason is obvious, Halo is a game for Xbox and is a FPS. Nearly every guy I know plays/played Halo.
The real interesting part is WoW and MS. WoW's popularity shot up and stayed at that point but generally started declining, and, by the looks of the trends, is still falling. MS, on the other hand, has steadily been increasing, and with Nexon's new campaign ads, the SVI should continue to grow along side.

If INT equips and Ele Wands inflate due to the HP advertising, I'm going to be so angry. As a soon-to-be-AM, our crap is expensive enough already

Can't forget the possibility of having ads like this.

There was an ad for Maple at the bottom of that video... I don't think I wanna go to see HP with my friends if there's a Maple ad.

I plan on going to see HP in the early morning, shouldn't be too many people.
