As long as they keep releasing the good content and making SOME attempt at keeping hackers at bay, I'll be satisfied. I can even tolerate Nexon's constant stupidity (for the most part).

I wish they'd stop talking big all the time, though. It's getting very old.

I think all we can do is wait.
This is like the 100th time I said that ^ but I just keep doing it cause it's fun!

Now serious:
I really hope I get into Tespia again, those 2 days in term 3 were cool, altough I didn't find any bugs except for incorrect strings(BoT using 50 MP at max, etc.), but can you call those bugs?

Let's see how Nexon is going to satisfy me. Monsterbook seemed good, until I found out that monsters don't like to give me their cards (read: bye bye satisfaction). I hope they really keep to what they're saying for once, cause even the last patch had some things that made me go Tongue

ecwcwwe: On your one comment, some of use that have been around the century mark in terms of levelling have seen more than our fair share of stuff. You'll find that you could probably have someone starting an "Ancients of Southperry" thread and find that a number of the finest from SW came over to SP. I wouldn't call myself the best, but then I'd consider those that usually post without thinking about it usually are the worst.(OffTopic:Some memes should just be lined up against the wall and shot at with cannon shells.)

My own thoughts on the topic:
I'm willing to give it a shot, if NXJoeW & NxProse are around. Though if they could toss Hime & the Kornball, they might actually have a winning team. I'd swear NxPepe comes from the same school of thought as JoeW & Prose from what I've seen of his posts. Though Tibaroo on the other hand, death by tossing him to the tiburón. (Knew the spelling somewhat, then again I'm not quite fluent in Spanish.)

Sometimes I do find that there are things they could have tried inquiring about those that were running the private servers to keep hackers to a minimum. Some bits of code in the serverside emulation itself, might help the GMs keep an eye and maybe even start playing with the crackers minds & computers as well. I do believe while some things may fall under the fair use clauses of the DMCA in the US, like having compiled code to emulate the servers. I suppose yankee law would be a different beast from canuck, but they do have some of the same practices in theory. (Note: Nary be I a lawyer, though wish I was. Kicking Kornball around in court might just be as much fun as playing with the crackers minds.

(Yet Another Note: I would be using the proper terms. I would consider Fiel more of a white hat hacker. On the other hand, "hackers" more of the malicious black hat variety I would refer to as crackers.)

Besides; it would be nice to help Nexon in some ways more than others. (Just thinking of an image where either a double hanging for both Hime and Kornball; or tossing them in a room with Rorschach [Yes, the guy from The Watchmen] and watching the fun ensue.)

While you may have seen your fair of stuff, I can not begin to count how many people under level 100 I have seen who didn't know what certain 4th job skills were, and thusly accused said people of being hackers.

Not only does that level 120 requirement help to weed out that group of people, but it also means that when places like the Time Temple come out, you will be of some use to the Volunteer Deputy service.
High level Deputies can help get rid of mid-level hackers... But low-level deputies won't really be able to help get rid of high-level hackers

And about the "ancients of SouthPerry"... I really have no clue what you are trying to say with that. While I may not be a famous person from sleepywood, I did come from there once I heard that Fiel was banned and made his own forum O.o

After I read this, my first thought was, "wat, they're going to bring back Tespia?" I wonder what they're going to change this time? I remember last time they had a lot of problems with "how do I become GM" and the lackluster amount of bugs that were turned in. I also know of many members that turned in bug reports only to have them go unnoticed in the final game.

They've been getting better as of late, but I'm going to keep watching with an open mind. If they get better, great. If they get worse, then same ol' same ol'.

Same here. I'm a very hopeful person, so no matter how bad they've screwed up in the past, I always place my trust and hope in them when they release a statement like this. Will it last? Time will tell.

If I could offer any advice to the GMS community, it would be to take this message from Nexon with agreed caution. In other words, do what they say, test out their stuff, but do so always watching your back. If something is horribly wrong, if Tespia is just completely nerfed and unable to function, if this Volunteer Deputy system is no more effective than our current reporting system, then please, speak out against them. They claim that they want tickets now, they want customer feedback, so give it to them. Don't be afraid to tell them what's really wrong.

Quote:In the future, for certain updates, we will bring up Tespia and let some of you girls and guys loose.

YES, YES, YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THEY... THEY FINALLY LISTENED TO MEEEEEE!!!!!!!

THANK YOU NEXON, THANK YOU!!!!!!! YOU'RE THE BEST COMPANY EVER!!

Really, after that, I won't be insulting NEXON anymore, ever. They can do anything, bring a lot of bugs, I don't really care anymore.

For those who still didn't know, since the closure of Tespia, I've been posting on NEXON Forums about it.. I've wrote EVERYTHING to try to convince them to open it again... I know it will help for the bugs if they choose the right testers. And Tespia.. well, it's been my best MapleStory experience so far. Private Servers? Blah.. who cares about them. As NEXON said they should just be boycotted. Tespia is 100x++ better than Private Servers because those are official servers and everything works unlike them. Also, the great feeling you have when testing new contents and "helping" NEXON fix bugs... that's wonderful.

So yeah.. I almost fainted when I read that, seriously. I-can't-believe-it. Call me nerd or whatever, but I'm SOOO happy to know they will open Tespia again. Really.

Also, they even listened me about my suggestion "if someone reports many bugs he/she gets choosen again, and if he/she sends fake/useless reports he/she doesn't get in Tespia again".. That's just great!!

I thought it was impossible, but yeah, after many posts from me, I convinced them to open Tespia again. If we'll get Tespia again, it'll be thanks to me... maybe. Biggrin Well, just go read the feedback thread at 15th page and you'll see my post. After that, they decided to open it again with the suggestion I gave about only choosing again people who reported legit bugs. They just followed everything I said there! Wow, they started listening to their customers, finally.

ClawOfBeta.. he really liked Tespia.. he'll be happy seeing this. I hope. I really hope he'll be able to play on Tespia. =)

eos367 Wrote:Well I'll be. Maybe someone actually does read feedback tickets.
 Spoiler
Things they've started doing since I filed this:
  • Listing changes before a patch goes in.
  • Listing intended fixes for a SC
  • Focus Groups
  • Updated monster info on website (altho not by much).
  • Self policing via deputies now?
  • Bringing back tespia

Oh yeah, they probably listened to us.

Read here: http://forum.nexon.net/MapleStory/forums...hread.aspx

I've suggested many times to bring back Tespia, and maybe they finally listened me.. and you.. and everyone who wants Tespia back.

Thanks for supporting me and everyone who wants Tespia back by sending a feedback ticket. Biggrin

yes.. but then what about low-level hackers?? Just let them run loose? Everyone is a low-level at some point, even hackers. You aren't gonna see a 4th job person, actually.. even a lvl 100~ person hunting pig beach very often. Catch them while their young and they can't get to a high level

ecwcwwe: If your wondering why I said Ancients of Southperry; my reference is actually back to when rukmedes had started SW, and this was back when gMS was back in beta.
Having said that, I believe we've got a fair number of souls that have seen the times where beta was fairly fun.

I can see where your coming from Typhoon; I still remember the first time I went cracker hunting. If we've managed to have some people that don't remember/ didn't know the one massive hackfest era that we had. I know I've had guild members at times having had asked me why I hunt crackers. Besides, I've noticed hackers that claim to have seen me hacking on my sin or I/L where I could easily take a video to catch them in the act. Besides; I've gotten into areas that I normally get into on my F/P on my sin quite easily.
I've even been nuts to take a 1x archer of my own into an area where it shouldn't go. I had the pots & knowledge to, and caught someone hacking. Also I do keep a list of the hackers that I find in Broa.

For the bug report abuse on Tespia, what they should do, if you report crap, well use the function to ask "how me gm?!" they should simply ban(from tespia) everyone who does so, for ever. And keep a list of stuff they know they need to fix, so they don't get the same bug report 1000 times.

I hope that is what they'll do, but anything the do, will be better then the last and the only tespia i played, round 3 i think.

I'd like to believe Nexon this time, really I would...but I've heard it numerous times over the years, sure they do somethign for a few weeks then it goes down hill. Nexon can talk all they like but until I actually see some changes...I'll stay cynical. Biggrin

Volunteer deputy program could be interesting, at the very least should have reports go directly to GMs. Why not just make 90% of SP the deps? (Some people have proven to be a little quick to anger/jump to conclusions).

I would like to argue that. Sleepywood is way more educated than Basil, is almost every angle. I bet Basil is just figuring out about what the family system really is, and it doesn't involve being married... >.>

As for the volunteer thing, I believe they already hired their guys. I think it was the GM hiring for April-June that appeared weeks ago. So nobody should be talking about who's going to be one.

There's a bunch of diamonds in Basil, if you know where to look. But, yeah, the majority there are people that get pissed off quickly.

About the Tespia bug report system, they should put in a little trap. When you submit a report, have 'em select a category of what the report is about: Skill Bug, Monster Bug, Text Incorrect, Become GM, Quest Bug, etc. That would easily eliminate a bunch of morons.

I'm frequently in the areas that hackers and botters are in, just because I spend so much time farming and shift locations so constantly to keep it interesting.
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.
