Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 General
>Pineapple' Wrote:Okay, after seeing the other gameplay videos he looks much better. I still think the trailer is horrible :\

And I expected something more reasonable. Some of his normals do make sense, as he's looking for evidence and examining things, but some others just look like he's smacking people around in stupid ways.

Other news: megaman hinted to be dlc even further????:

 Spoiler

It's paying tribute to the Days of Future Past. Instead of listing X-MEN characters, they're just listing MvC2 characters that aren't in 3. I'm not expecting any of those characters to be released as DLC.

I just really hope Nick is viable for competitive play. At least high mid-tier. I'll probably use him on my main team regardless, but I want him to actually be a great character for the team. I think he'll be good as a 2nd character. I'm assuming he has his Maya attack that otg's as an assist. Perhaps running Spidey (if he's made more viable, though I've recently seen footage that's pretty insane of him in vanilla), Nick, Doom? Team would be nuts.

On the topic of nova, he looks a lot like super-skrull but I think he'll be a high tier character. He seems to move around well, and has lots of tools even alone. He might be pretty basic/ generic but he does look fun

@above: Yes, but oddly enough megaman is the only one that ISN'T listed as apprehended or slain. Speculation.

If gathering evidence is as fast/viable as I'm reading it on the Shoryuken forums (can grab 3 pieces of evidence in just 1 second), he may be high tier.

Nova won't be high tier, he's not well rounded enough.

He can grab evidence quickly, but I don't think any evidence will do. Some things look completely random. His Maya barrier looks to be ridiculously good at blocking... well anything but teleporters would be an issue.

Quote:In a post from iPlayWinner we hear some details about a new mode called Heroes and Heralds. It appears to be some sort Street Fighter X Tekkens gem system by adding in special features via cards you collect offline.

This mode will be free DLC post-launch.
A totally new way to play the game. Add abilities using cards, ala Gems or System Direction. Abilities include Parry, Assist Super Armor, XFactor Blowback, Dizzying Attacks, Projectile Invincibility, Special cancels into Specials, Invisibility, etc. Over 100 cards, equip 3 at once, 1.12 million total combinations.

New mode, not going to be forcibly implemented into the main vs online game. Just stick to regular online mode to avoid complaining.

Still, it's like they're aiming to use all their resources to make this game as scrub friendly as possible. Balance changes so far are fucking retarded and aimed to make everything noob friendly.

Damn you, Capcom! Why do you want to make the game more inviting to different type of people!? You should with please just the hardcore community! Why do you want more people to buy and play your games!? Why!?

I heard Web-zip OTGs now.

Spidey for A tier?

An otg of his own is pretty much all here needed to get past mid tier, imo. (at least in vanilla)
With the new hitstun scaling and whatnot it might be different.

Web zip otg confirmed (a while ago)

Gimmicky mode is gimmicky, no one's gonna even bother using it for serious competitive tournaments.
Also, trailer for said mode

Imagine the possibilities! Who cares about the competitive aspect of this mode, it's just awesome, with more variety!

I'd imagine that the competitive scene can test out some set cards and come up with some pretty stable rules if they wanted to. Also, I can see this as Capcom testing out some future core mechanics in fighting games. Maybe it was stuff the developers wanted to add, but the ideas never got the green light because it wasn't suited for this game.

I really don't care about the competitive scene but what makes me sad is that it's highly possible that tons of characters will never be playable at all, meaning that they'll only be making an appearance as one of those stupid cards.

At least they're mentioning them in card mode.

They have Pink Sentinel?

*checks*

Crraaaaaaaap. Oh well, I can live without pink Sent. Saving $10 seems far nicer to me.

Surprisingly, every character has been played in the competitive scene AT LEAST a few times. Yes, there have been people who have played Thor / Ironman / Chris / etc and made it to top 8 in events.
