The minerva saving Lector thing isn't a huge surprise though, I'm pretty sure my first thought after "oh pomegranate" was minerva probably saved him with her magic.

I still have no idea where this arc is going. Having a shonen manga that isn't doesn't have an incredibly obvious plot is great.

This is what I like about Fairy Tail: While it is disappointing at times those moments are far surpassed by plot twists and plotline that Mashima has truly surprised us with. Oh, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who wonders how Minerva is really going to be like because PINEAPPLE that and the whole Sabertooth drama has me wanting to see more already.

Sorry, but the outright disappointments from time skips that aren't time skips, forced friendship crap, and outright BS power-ups far outweigh the good stuff from FT.

Exactly this. It's come to the point that I think I wouldn't really count on death happening unless it's done by THAT person.

Am I a bad person for feeling pretty disappointed that Arcadius didn't die? I mean, he sunk into fking lava and not even his hair got burnt. It'd have made way sense if they were fighting the Acid guy.

Either you accept it as fantasy and take it that falling into magical lava isn't necessarily instant death, or you want to take it as realistic, in which case EVERYONE in that room would have died near instantly from the heat and fumes.

Real lava has temperatures >700C. You're pretty much fucked if your body temperature goes above 40C~45C. and everyone in that room was within a couple of meters of the lava. If it was real, they all had seconds to live, the guy casting the spell included.

It would only be an asspull if you had somehow convinced yourself that the manga about people able to use magic that summons all sorts of incredible things like fire, weapons, summon spirits from other dimensions and much more should for some reason follow real world physics.

Virtually no shonen manga (or many films/tv shows/literature for that matter) follows real world physics, and they'd all be much worse off if they did.

No pomegranate, so just like I said it's not real world lava. The same goes death mountain. IF that lava was real, link would have died upon getting close to the entrance of death mountain, he would never have even been able to enter the mountain, much less walk around for minutes. But that would make for a shitty videogame.
So at best videogame/manga "Lava" is only at like 50~100C so that people can actually include it

Tales of the Abyss comes to mind too, air-conditioned uniforms be damned. Well, maybe the next chapter will explain what that 'lava' is but otherwise we can just say 'Because magic'.

Still, sinking into lava and coming out with a sunburn and all your hair is way too exaggerated. Even Mario or Megaman dies instantly from touching lava. I get your point, but they freaking streched it way too far.
