It's kind of pathetic how bad Nexon is at marketing. i mean, paying existing Maplers to stream Kinesis/Reboot isn't going to do much because their audiences are already largely Maplers.

"I haven't even spent 20 bucks yet" - Has GM giving him everything. Over 115 No boom's, 95 Unique Potential scrolls, GM just gave him 85k maple points. Yeah this really shows how maplestory is. Rolling my eyes so hard.
Nice to see this is what they've decided is the most important thing to have some of their GMs do right now!

I'd think they should at least have the people promoting the game figure out how it works first so they aren't fumbling around like idiots when they're showing other people. But you're right, it's halfway decent marketing.
This just goes to prove my point I made in The Creatures Influence Program post - corporate Nexon thinks it's better use of their money to try and draw in new players than to make their current players happy, or improve their sh'it so new players are more likely to stay around.
Cowsep is actually a nice guy. He's in my MS2 raid group and knows what he's doing there.

Well, see, one of the benefits of having somebody like me playing the game is that my League of Legends audience, which would have never looked at Maplestory anyway, would actually consider playing Maplestory because of how the Maplestory game looks. Uh, I do have a decent knowledge of Maplestory, but the game has literally changed so much since I played. Like, I, I used to play a lot of Maplestory when I was a kid. Like I devoted my life to this game. So I still have a.. So like, like, it's just, the game has changed a lot since I played. So now this character has guard, I remember there was dodge.

He's playing Kinesis currently.
I would hardly consider Cowsep a popular streamer in terms of League given that he plays exactly one champion every game, which reflects on Nexon's marketing decisions. Right now LilyPichu, another League streamer is playing MapleStory and is sponsored by Nexon too.

This isn't new, Nexon has been paying other people to promote their games via YouTube or Twitch for a long ass time. They did it with Vindictus and Dirty Bomb, not a surprise to see it being done with MapleStory. Though I do agree that they should pay the right people to promote MapleStory. Why would a LoL player have interest in MapleStory? Those are two entirely different games.

It's mentioned more to solidify the fact that they aren't trying to kill Reboot necessarily, and to prove that they are just incompetent. Someone originally posted earlier in the thread that Nexon pays people to advertise the game, and then a day later there's people streaming Reboot in sponsored streams.
Five Second Pose; Cowsep is pretty popular IMO. Gets videos of his to the top of /r/leagueoflegends often, and has over 400,000 twitch followers. He only plays one champion usually, but he's pretty good at it. He's definitely not one of the more popular league players though, I agree. I think Nexon might've reached out to him because he actively plays MapleStory 2, and used to play MapleStory.

From what I remember of the sponsoring controversy a few years ago LCS players are contractually prohibited from being sponsored by other games so LCS players are out.

My first thoughts were someone like Gregidot. A popular league personality that isn't professional and has a large fanbase. It seems like they're reaching out to league streamers anyways. Probably because they lost a lot of their fanbase to the game, so they're trying to intrigue them and get them back.

Same with Lily, her boyfriend said she was making him play too and asked his stream chat which classes were most underplayed a week or so ago.

Well the point of him streaming isn't really for us. We already play MapleStory. Nexon wanted to reach out to a different demographic and introduce (or reintroduce) them to the game. There's absolutely no reason for them to get someone who has a MapleStory-only audience to advertise for them.

JMS didn't get Reboot world. I'm waiting to see if CMS/TWMS will get Reboot world before I assume whether or not Reboot world was pushed by Korea onto NxA or it was NxA that pushed for Reboot because it wasn't originally in the plans. They know we have a bunch of nostalgic folks on their servers, otherwise, they wouldn't have done the Back to Old Maple events.
As for the Cash Shop, they're just being lazy when it comes to the NX equip covers. Nexon hasn't updated the Cash Shop with new items in years. They've been dumping new CS equips items as limited time packages or dumping them into RNG boxes. They haven't added new items in separately in forever. The equips in the CS has existed since almost the beginning of time.
What isn't forced on GMS these days?.....

JMS just recently got it. They were late to the party. Maybe they were trying to make it feasible and change it to fit what the players in Japan want, instead of just shuffling it out like Nexon NA does. I might log back in and check it out.
Nexon JP always seems to have a closer grip on reality than Nexon NA. They also always have seemed to have a better ability to truly make the game theirs instead of just going with whatever Korea hands to them. It might be worth it to see how it is.
Honestly, I stopped playing Reboot for a while because of the same reason multiple people did - the lag. I'm not going to bother when the game fights me playing it. I'll just play MHX instead, or any number of other games I have. No reason to play a game that feels like it doesn't want me playing it.
This is also just a good sign not to really bother with GMS2. It might be the best game in the world, but it doesn't matter when it's hosted by the sh'ittiest company in existence for MMO gaming.

Can't they... just give them some guidelines about what this really is and pomegranate, I've seen like 3 different promotions videos by now and they don't even know what reboot(ed lol) actually is.
In this case it could mislead anyone watching it lol "Going back to the roots" -Plays in the non reboot world-, what a fail from their PR marketing.
They could at least give those promotions some guidelines about certain stuff argh, just some basic information relayed to them...
