The zero bonus stacks on the merc link bonus line. But yeah, he doesn't appear to have it.

Wouldn't it be better if he took a day off from his main and get a zero to 160(I bet he could in a day with 2x quest) to get the 8% exp bonus? Or in the long run a day worth of grind would be better than 8% more exp(I guess with all the multipliers he has zero's card might end up not as useful)?

Zero bonus only applies to base exp, doesn't it? Not to HS or other multipliers, and not to party bonus exp. Hence, its even more useless than a pendant of the spirit.

Well it could be one of two if he has been doing 24/7 training, is either a group of people or downright botting but has he been actually training 24/7? What level was he a week ago or so?

He was below 220 less than a week ago.

You know the really high ledge on the left of the map? Below it, there's another ledge. If you park a character close to the left corner of that platform, you'll be safe.
