The Legend of Korra - Book 2: Spirits
#41
Jamesie Wrote:I don't think his intentions are all that good. There is just something inherently wrong about what he did at the end of ep2. He almost kind of gives off the same vibe as Tarrlok to me. Not a bad guy, but does a whole lot of shifty things and then is later revealed that he's a pretty bad guy (though he does make it up).

By good intentions, I mean that he wants to restore the Spirit Balance for the Southern Water Tribe, which is obviously necessary. How he's doing it....is seemingly making him Tarrlok Mk.2, though. Just by the fact that he was trying to drive Korra away from her father from the very beginning, and now with this what-seems-to-be-invasion, he's definitely not doing it the right way.

3 water-bending villains in a row? come on.

Every generation has their imbalances though. Can't always be fire. Probably not going to be wind for a LONG time either.

I know, it's just.. unnecessary though. especially since the angry spirits are already dangerous enough to be considered villains.

It could have been a badass metal bender who uses blades and pomegranate, but nope, it's another water bender with an army. It's just not very compelling.

It's too early to definitively say that he's a bad guy, though. It could be intentional for the same reason you don't like it, deliberately done to mess with your head.

Maybe Jinora gets her tatoos this time by inventing the new airbending subset that we're supposedly getting this season?

Airbenders get their tattoos when they are declared to be a master of Airbending.

Airbenders have to create a move in order to become a true airbender (Aang invented the wind ball thingy).

To be a master they have to invent an Airbending "move." Just going off of how clever Jinora is, it wouldn't suprise me if she created a subset of Airbending that was unique.

Loved it.
Although that ending was like..." so... what? "

Dat sibling rivalry
I wonder about the ending, were they really planning that?

Nice move Korra's Uncle. I wouldn't be surprised if the subset of Airbending results into something related to Spirit bending, also that would make sense with Jinora being able to enter to the spirit world (but we also know that Korra's Uncle wants to open the north and south portals to get a "faster way to get to the north and south"), so maybe it's by entering the spirit world and then getting out in the other side of the portal. And Korra please, get some brains... or at least some humility, your parents love you, they are just being parents...

Also, I'm kind of curious about Aang's and Katara's Marriage, going by Tenzin's brother, looks like they didn't have a good childhood but to be honest, I kinda understand Aang because Tenzin was the last hope for Air Bending.

It just seemed like regular sibling behavior to me. :l

Not just that, I said to my brother jokingly that Aang had three childs with Tenzin being the youngest because he was trying to make an airbender.

Technically, it was his duty to. Even if it took 50 children because without an Airbender the Avatar Cycle will end when it hits Airbending again.

The interactions between Tenzin and his siblings just looked like regular sibling interactions and attitude to me.
