"Signing" your posts...

Locked Wrote:Rather than being one sided why don't we try to understand why exactly they do it? There must be a motive/point to them.

I'd like to see you end every post with

"You've been rocked by Locked!"

That was bad. What is this, a radio station?

But in all seriousness, I couldn't, for the life of me, think of a reason for signing your posts that already have your name attached. I guess if you like redundantness and are self-obsessed, it might start to make sense... It's similar to this one person I met on another forum... They ALWAYS refer to themself in the third person.

I find it pretty pointless and see it as just more things to clutter posts.

If you could make some type of sig thingy that would show up instead of just the name, that could be enjoyable.

Noone said anything about a rule against it :f6:

ElderTree Wrote:But there's no rule against that either, is there?

Yes. Just like Nexon we take a hard stance on account sharing. We will see in to the depths of your soul, determine you're not the original account holder and incinerate you where you sit. Because we care. Rolleyes

No one said there was a rule against; what was said is that it doesn't happen, and it doesn't as far as we know (or could possibly tell), because it would be fairly pointless to share an account when nothing prevents you from having your own. The only reason to have an account is to post. If someone wants to post, they make an account.
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.

i liked paulpker, that was some dedication to the third person that he had.

One of my friends on Facebook does that when commenting on things. Just like most everyone else, I don't know why. I don't ask.

Using that as perspective, forums would make more sense than Facebook to be signing posts. I see it all the time in other forums where there is a strong anonymous community who is generally there once to ask a question and receive help.

Southperry, however, isn't a tech-help forum for the most part, so signing seems a bit out of place; a personal quirk.

I find it pretty quirky and odd, but I don't see why is this such a big issue for people.

It's less than a couple characters o.o

I don't understand why people feel the need to do it manually. If it was in peoples signatures, I wouldn't care, because I automatically skip to the next post at the signature line anyway. But yeah, wasting 3ms of my time is time I'll never get back darnit!

Don't mind it at all really, although it can be considered superfluous to the actual post content.

Wow Eos. I didn't know it bothered you that much, that you would go out and be a plantain to Hadriel on his page.

Lol, Eos has some serious butthurt over this.

Doesn't bother me in the slightest. Tone is what you make of it. All I did was ask a question and make a flippant comment on his horrible chin-hating.

Red was the only readable contrasting color on top of all the blue.

I think Sarah should have just have a signature saying:
Sarah, Pineapple Generator
because nearly every one of her posts makes me wanna click that damn +1.

I understood the use of a signature like that on other forums, but it doesn't work on this one at all. Their name is clearly visible, and if they post in a thread, or mention somebody, or quote somebody or are quoted, we know who they are anyway. It's pointless and redundant but i really don't care. Different strokes for different folks.

I only find it odd that my Sig cuts off whilst other people have a bigger sig that shows fully o.ol

You can buy Sig limit upgrades in the market with Karma.
Yours is currently set at 150, if you upgraded it to 200, your sig would show fully :3

This... is something I have an issue with, personally.
YES, the signature space IS there. I don't get why people (especially hadriel since he does it the most) just don't use their signatures better. Even then, it's still fucking annoying.

So yeah. There.
