Why is it necessary for anyone to be able to post at all?
Why are any of the BBCodes necessary? All they do is stuff. You could type in plaintext just as well.
If you don't have a use for it, don't use it. Miracle of miracles.

Andross Wrote:It's not like it's going to stop anybody from getting to it if they want to, all they'd have to do is make a minimal-content post once in the thread.

Anything can be abused.
Anything can circumvented.
Neither of these is a newflash.
Neither of these is a reason why new things shouldn't be added.

Then stop. Whatever it is you're doing, regardless of intent, is serving absolutely no purpose but being negative for negativity's sake.

You don't like it, you won't use it, the world moves on.
You're not exactly a prolific poster upon whom the entire forum pivots, now are you? I think we'll survive your lack of understanding.
If and when you find a scenario where it makes sense for you to use it, you can use it. Until then, it's just there. Like all the other tags and options you don't use every hour of every day.

And now, Southperry has a feature that allows you to encourage others to do just that.

If used inappropriately or gratuitously.

You're living proof people don't need a feature for that.

What an ass I am for making conversation on a forum.

I actually like this feature because it avoids delays sheepminding.
Of course, it interferes with what I love about the +1 system: being able to show that I agree with something without having to say it again in a slightly different way.

No, you're some sort of narcissistic-megalomaniac who has to make it all about you, and apparently thinks every thread needs more of you regardless of having anything to contribute, but ass is close.

This is useful for stuff like guides, I guess... Stuff you want only posted here and nowhere else (*cough* Danny, this means you. *cough*). Other than that, it sounds annoying.

Not really. a guide that can only be read by registered members who've replied to it has an incredibly small viewership and a whole lot of spam.

That was what I meant, I thought it would be amazingly evil to do that then I realised I'd rather not do that. It's pimentoish and lame.

Yeah, exactly what Eos said above me.

Mute Wrote:I can see this being useful in those threads abouts shows/movies, where they'd have the same function as the spoiler tags, but with the added benefit/work required to keep it within the members only. Sure it'd be annoying, if you reallywanted to reply and have only members who respond to the thread be able to see it's spoiled, but the novelty of it.

Everything in moderation.

I bet it will be fun though. Once it's been used for a while, and everyone just adapts to it, then we could start abusing this sh'it well.

Like making a thread with a poll, but have the contents be hidden so the poll options lack context.

But yes, everything in moderation. (Or rather, by the moderators?)

As previously implied, any OP completely hidden by one of these tags outside of shenanigans would be grounds for an instant spam infraction.

This is just a non-intuitive spoiler.

I don't usually reply to threads, but I love to read arguments and I'm always interested in what people have to say even if I'm not participating... ._.
I Guess that's over.

i bet these would make wicked awesome mad-libs

Just wanted to say this hide-reply function sounds obnoxious and useless, I can't wait to have Shenanigans threads that require me to post in order to see the bad content they are posting.
/sarcasm

EDIT: Seems like I didn't have to wait at all.

You know full well this is our usual cast of idiots running rampant purely on novelty.

Oh I know that very well, it would be silly to expect differently from a sub-forum made for spam. It's just that I fail to see any positive use of it. Even my idea of a game (pretty much doodleordie.com) wouldn't work, because people can see all hidden posts once they have a single post in the thread.
