PS Vita now with NA getting screwed hard.

Sarah Wrote:You need to stop defending the Vita against every negative word/reaction like it's your first born son. The 3DS thread is full of negativity by owners and non-owners alike and you don't see anyone (except that guy with the Klonoa avatar) defending it unnecessarily.

3G costs more and should be better than WiFi--why wouldn't people expect to be able to do AT LEAST the same amount with it?

But I'm arguing against it! The 3G model doesn't allow you to play online and that sucks! How is that defending it? I don't get your point at all.

I'm biased, yes. Hyped for this console, yes. But the 3G model outside Japan is an outrageous idea, and has too little margin to success.

looks like I'm not gonna bother rushing to get the thing then. I'll wait for a newer model because I know they'll release one and pineapple over all the first generation customers.

So apparently the Vita is doing less than optimally in the Japanese market right now, having their first shipment reduced by 200k units, selling a little less than 50k units less than the 3DS did in its first two days of launch, and selling less than the PSP did when it first launched.

Interesting... and the nightmare scenarios that's been popping up all over regarding Vita's actual functionality can't be helping it either.

Edit: Not to say it's doing badly or anything, it's just not extraordinary by launch standards.

Already blown $250 on a handheld once within the past 6 months. Don't feel up to doing it again, especially since the only game in that launch line-up that I'd really play would be Touch My Katamari.

Yeah, agreed. I'd be a little more excited if the new BlazBlue or Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 was among them, but it seems I can wait for now. Touch my Katamari is the only one worth it for me.

hahahaohwow. Launched games are f`ucking atrociously terribad, and that's not surprising at all. Nope. Not one bit.

Maybe it'd do well if it actually had games worth getting. The current line-up is complete pomegranate. The only one I'm even remotely interested in is the resistance game, and even that I don't care much for.

When has a console / handheld launch NEVER been bad?

Is this a serious question? The last two I could think of were Dreamcast and GameCube, but that was a long time ago. Also, I'm only counting US launches.

Google: "Dreamcast launch", and it's the first link iirc.

Quote:The Dreamcast was released in November 1998 in Japan; on September 9, 1999 in North America and on October 14, 1999 in Europe and November 30, 1999 in Australia. Despite problems with the Japanese launch, the system's launch in the United States was successful. In the US alone, a record 300,000 units had been pre-ordered and Sega sold 500,000 consoles in just two weeks (including a record 225,132 sold during the first 24 hours). In fact, due to brisk sales and hardware shortages, Sega was unable to fulfill all of the advance orders. Sega confirmed that it made US$98.4 million on combined hardware and software sales with Dreamcast following the September 9, 1999 launch. Four days after its launch in the US, Sega stated that 372,000 units were sold bringing in US$132 million in sales.
Launch titles such as Soul Calibur, Sonic Adventure, Power Stone, Hydro Thunder, Marvel vs. Capcom, The House of the Dead 2, and NFL 2K helped Dreamcast succeed in the first year. Sega Sports titles helped fill the void left by a lack of Electronic Arts sports games on the system. Dreamcast sales grew 156.5% from July 23, 2000 to September 30, 2000 putting Sega ahead of the Nintendo 64 in that period. However, the launch of Sony's PlayStation 2 that year marked the beginning of the end for the Dreamcast.

As for GC, it was hyped as it is before launch, let alone launch. But these are consoles, not handhelds, so I guess they shouldn't really count though.

The GC had 2 good games in its entire library ever. How could you possibly say it had a good launch?

(Paper Mario 2 and Wind Waker)

edit: sorry, let's say 4 and add REmake and just to be nice, Symphonia.

Yes, because from all the consoles / handhelds I've ever owned, not a single one had a "Good" launch. Considering I've never owned a Dreamcast, that's probably why I didn't know about it.
Also the GCN's launch was absolutely freaking terrible.

As I recall it N64 had a great launch in Europe, Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire, Super Mario 64, Pilot Wings 64 and Turok: Dinosaur Hunter.

...What?

-Metroid Prime
-Metroid Prime 2
-Super Smash Bros. Melee
-Four Swords Adventures
-Twilight Princess (it was, after all, originally for the Game Cube)

Whether there are games that are ported to the Wii or not is irrelevant. They're games originally designed for and are a part of the Game Cube library.

Anywho, it sucks to hear the PS Vita isn't doing as great as hoped, but oh well. I've never really been a fan of Sony stuff.

Edit : Also :

Quote:Ransu: I'd include the Resident Evil games
凸(`△´+Wink ナンダト!!: Were the Game Cube Resident Evil titles GCN exclusive?
Ransu: Yeah, but Resident Evil 4 was ported to PS2, PC, and Wii later on
Ransu: It's on 360 and PS3 now
Ransu: Resident Evil 4 HD
Ransu: From what I remember, the exclusive Gamecube games were Resident Evil(remake), Resident Evil 0, and Resident Evil: Code Veronica X
Ransu: Code Veronica got an HD version for 360 and PS3 also
Ransu: and Resident Evil and Resident Evil 0 were re-released for Wii with motion controls

Uh, I should clarify because that's misleading. You can still play downloaded PSP games (like Patapon 2, or anything else you may have downloaded), you just won't be able to play the games you own UMDs for. In Japan they have a passport program that allows you to buy all games you already own at an extreme discount on the PSN (not free because you know what kind of problems that would cause unless they limited it to one download.) But we're not getting that.

So no Birth By Sleep on the Vita.
