If I find 3 more regular cards, I'll have 44, and my book would be level 4. The cover's color changes according to level, but as far as I can tell level has no effects on anything aside from that. Oh really? And the 5th card gives you the die animation.

(Added a few notes to the first post in regards to the covers, and a feature I forgot to mention earlier in the extra list at the bottom).

By regular cards, do you mean that each monster's 5 cards will count towards 5 regular cards or does only the first monster card count towards the total?

Any ordinary monster you'd find in a hunting map would drop a regular card.

Okay. There are a total of 8 monsters on Maple Island currently. They would each drop a card. If I were to find all 40 cards on my islander, would I have a total of 40 Regular Cards or a total of 8 Regular Cards?
I assume 40, but I just want to make sure. Your post doesn't help clarify it for me. XD Also, do cards found past the original 5 (so like, the 6th slime card that you find) count towards the total or are they completely invalid? :X

If there are 8 monsters in Maple Island then it would say you had 8 cards, and never any more. It displays 3 numbers: Total number of unique cards (this is the sum of the next two) Total number of unique regular cards Total number of unique special cards So, for example, if I have 5 king slime cards, and 5 Deu cards, but if you look at my special card total it only says 2, not 10.

Maybe that factors the monster book level, too... I mean, maybe 5 from the same count as 5 different ones in that case.

Darkfaith Wrote:But i get any effect?Nothing at all happens if you pick up a 6th (or higher) monster card. That's why I said it would be a good idea to let someone else pick it up, so it didn't go to waste. On the other hand there are certain monsters (like Slimes, for example) where pretty much everyone has all 5 of them. I think I've found 7 slime cards in KMS... No one wanted the other two so I ended up looting them anyway.

This is of course assuming the book levels up in equal steps, which in my opinion is unlikely, I mean, nothing else does (characters, pets, mounts, weapons) Why should the book?

Lozmaster Wrote:This is of course assuming the book levels up in equal steps, which in my opinion is unlikely, I mean, nothing else does (characters, pets, mounts, weapons) Why should the book?Yeah, we established that :p I'm trying to work out how this leveling works now... There's 8 different covers, and since it starts at level 1 that means it can level 7 times. In the first incarnation of the Monster Book, there were 297 regular cards, which means if the leveling requirements were equal it'd take 37 cards just to get to level 2... Since mine was level 3 at 33, that's clearly not the case. If someone wants to try to figure out some sort of leveling equation based on that information feel free, but I don't really know where else to go from that.

Probably. For example, it levels to 2 after x cards. It then levels to 3 after, say, x+5 cards. It levels to 4 after x+5+12 cards.
Random numbers, I might add. But that would make the most sense...right?
