Is Maplestory "Cheaper" then before?

Empress Cygnus? Nexon has hardly added any content since the potential system came out; of course you can still do all the content that was released prior to potential system.

Only cash items you really need are pets and the pick up equips for them and a shop permit and those are just slight conveniences so it's debatable if you even need those at all. Miracle cubes are also just a convenience that's not close to necessary unlike what most would say. Well scrolled gear without potential will still get you into everything but the empress which isn't even released in GMS yet and the equips are not really worth the time and money spent to obtain them then to scroll and potential them.

The only thing I used money on else than shops and pets was x2 exp which is gone now so the game is much much cheaper to play at a decent pace on now.

The point is that just because you can do something doesn't mean it's worth your time. I can play this game without NX but it's extremely harder/unbearable. You can kill the training monsters, but I can do it faster, thus level faster, and get to the better parts of the contents faster.

It's efficiency.

Not to mention that seeing cash users in a "free to play" game do 1000x better than you ALWAYS and you'll never be able to catch up in the slightest makes the game extremely depressing and undesirable.

Maplestory is a game.
I repeat: Maplestory is a game.

With that context, what exactly separates something that is "worth your time" from something that is not?
Different people are drawn to this game for a variety of reasons.
Some people play to feed their egos, some people play to "socialize", some people just love the math, etc, etc.
Whatever the reason, all purposes are, by definition, a waste of time.'

You claim you get to the "better parts of the contents [sic] faster", but I disagree.
What's "better" about Pink Bean? Cygnus?
Past their superficial appearances, they're the same damn thing as any other monster that moves.

The only thing killing faster accomplishes is enabling you to jump to the next monster earlier.
Once you're at that next monster, you're doing the same thing you did on the last monster.

But to answer your question, yes, I do believe it's cheaper than it was before purely due to the MTS being in the game.

Especially in JMS, MTS is completely useless. You need to have something worth about 300m to get 100NP. The only way, for the most part, to get something worth 300m, is to have NP in the first place.

Why don't you just keep whacking snails if you don't care about progression?

MS still doesn't have progression endgame-wise. In the last 60 levels there are 3 challenging bosses (CHT, PB, VL) plus some non-challenging ones. A couple parties of 20-30% primary stat characters can beat all the non-challenging bosses, and right now CHT/VL are glitched so near nobody can do those. That leaves 1 boss that's worth getting more than 30% stats, or even leveling past 150 at all. If you're willing to miss out on 1 boss out of dozens, you can safely get by with a $10 a month habit.

I think that Maplestory(used to) become a real game at level 105 or so, or you could probably say 70. When you had the recent job, and you were really starting to go for the big lines.

Now that's not exactly true, because you can get to this level in a day, and as much as I like it I do sometimes miss the old days where you could have a lot of fun at 70- as well.

But ultimately, at least to me, Maplestory is not a journey game, it's a destination game. Most of the grinding is ''work'', the result after that is what I find enjoyable. This sounds dumb because Maplestory is pretty much only grinding, it's hard to explain what I mean by this to be honest. I'd rather be using assaulter and meso explosion than be using SB to kill mobs all day because it is ''fun''. Likewise, I'd rather be joining up with friends and killing Zakum rather than killing Kru's all day because I find Zakking more fun.

So yes, I find efficiency to be important in this game, it ''gets you through the stupid crap'' faster.

...yeah that just makes me not want to play at all.

Wait, what?

That is bull, right? If that happens, how will I get NX for DFO?

Name me any game and I can tell you how to be more efficient in your best interest.

Viaje Wrote:With that context, what exactly separates something that is "worth your time" from something that is not?

If there options that accelerate my leveling faster, money faster, which allow me to get necessary skill points, than it's more valuable to me then, let's say, questing for defames.

Maplestory holds accomplishments, goals, and progression, it may waste reality but there's an alternate universe, thus making it a role playing game, where efficiency not only exists but should be exercised to the best of your ability.

Past their superficial appearances, they're the same damn thing as any other monster that moves.

End game content as in being able to tap into your characters potential, which could be as late as 17x in some cases. It's not smart to waste money and double the effort when alternatives exist. For example, getting enough damage to solo a boss, efficiently. Damage does matter, experience matters, all because of skill points. An above average player could get past the gritty part of the low levels because he has enough funding to accelerate his growth of his character.

The only thing killing faster accomplishes is enabling you to jump to the next monster earlier.

Is it me or you're saying you play Maple to make mesos then sell those through MTS to get NX for DFO? that sounds like such a waste of time.

Being a merchant in Maple is too easy. You see it as a waste of time, I see it as a way to save my money for other useless stuff.

I don't see how it is "too easy" when there are at least 100 other people doing the same thing you're.

Not being one to play FMstory or MTSstory (have tried countless times), I don't remember a time in the games history when I've felt I have had to spend so much cash just to remain average. Doesn't help all my mains are magicians either, the "lolweakAM/bish" stigma means I feel like I need to go overboard with upgrades just to prove other players otherwise. An ultimately fruitless cause since 1v1 is apparently all that matters and it has been shown that in their current state all magicians are low tier 1v1ers therefore they all suck.
