Nintendo's New Console
#41
Sarah Wrote:Regardless of what they intend to do regarding the screen, if they don't 1. move the shoulder buttons and 2. make the handles GRASPABLE then this is going to suck.

The concept art make me worried about the sharp corners of the screen protruding off the top too. That's clearly a design flaw that would lead to a lot of broken screens.

wow a lot of hate here.

I've noticed this on SP with the NGP and the new console Nintendo seems to be developing. What's wrong with improving???

The Wii was actually pretty good. It was super-refreshing when it came out. It was kinda like the NES, bringing gaming to a whole new generation.

I just played some Brawl a couple hours ago..

I agree, Wii has some good games.. but it hasn't yet reached its full potential :/
What about a Pokemon game for the Wii, like Pokemon Colosseum for the GameCube?
What about something like Gamerscore and Trophies, like the PS3/360 has?
What about more original titles for the Wii?

Pretty sure there's a pokemon game for the wii.

Wii isn't a competitive system. Not compared to the PS3/360 anyway.

This.

They experimented with appealing to the masses. It worked. Now they can go on to combine the success of that with a baller ass system. It could be a massive threat in every way to Sony and Microsoft.

You went wrong when expecting good Pokemon games for a home console. Sure Colosseum was good, but the only thing a Pokemon games on consoles are good for, is to bring battles onto the screen with polygons instead of sprites. Colosseum just spiced things up a bit. I mean, stadium 1 and 2 weren't all that special.

Also, Nintendo has proven that they're really bad at online integration. That's another reason to get a new console out there, isn't it?

Original titles by 1st party? Or by 3rd party developers? Because Nintendo has pumped out new franchises for the Wii. Just not the sort of stuff we want.

It's speculative art, nothing real about it. All they did was take the classic controller pro, a 3DS top screen, plus the 3DS top menu and shopped it all together. We don't even know if the screen on controller thing is real yet.

Concept art reminds me of those Chinese console rip-offs. Whole thing looks like a joke.

Imo, this must be a late April fools joke from Nintendo or someone else.
I'm betting a pony on it.

Or they're just using this art as a mask to keep suspicion off of what they're REALLY developing. Ya never know.

I'm not bashing you for not citing a source i'm just saying there is nothing denoting that as real or official from any of the numerous articles it just "showed up" it in.

The picture itself has an IGN watermark. And there's nothing real or official till E3 really.

I bet the console will be called 3Dii.

Judging from what I've read, Nintendo seems to be ditching any possible ideas about 3D on a home console.

Even if I'm no Nintendo fan I'm getting pumped. This could actually be a major threat to the PS3 and the 360, making Sony and Microsoft worry and actually do something with their consoles.

Do the words "Move" and "Kinect" mean anything to you?

Looks like yet another SOOPER INNOVATIVE console that will fail to live up to its expectations. When is Nintendo going to learn how to compete with the big boys? It's not about doing something that nobody else has done. It's about making video games that are appealing to an audience that is over 12 years of age.

They shouldn't, because they are just schemes. Kind of like the Wii, but worse. It's no secret that the Wii has the highest sales and that is only because so many toddlers and middle-aged women are attracted to it. Can you blame Sony and Microsoft for wanting middle-aged women to contribute to their sales as well?
