Irony.

As a Canadian I find this post shameful in so many ways.

Maping Wrote:We should, and are able to. We just do it in a Pineappled-up way. The metric system is WAY better. Seriously, were the people who designed our system retarded? Systems of tens, and to go from one section (say, milli) to another (centi), just multiply by ten to go to the next largest section, or divide by ten to go down a section, vs. screwed up sections, completely un-specified number of measurements in a section (12 inches in a foot, then three feet in a yard, whatever number of yards in a mile). Metric is way better. (And this is just the length measurements.)

PS: By section, I mean, like, grouping of measurements. say inches, millimeter, feet, meters, ect.

this, even in the funhaus, nonmetric system is rageworthy

The metric system is too mainstream.

Enjoy your logical system of counting.

Would you like to try and convince a third of a billion people to change how they measure everything? In a system where getting in power means winning a popularity contest, anyone that tries to pull a sudden change like that isn't going to get far. I agree, metric is so much easier, but a change isn't as easy as it sounds.

In Physics class we used exclusively Metric.

Just tell them their plantain sizes are going to sound a lot more impressive all of a sudden.
That, or they get to overspeed legally.

If Americans are already learning two systems, cut out the redundant one.

It's only the ones who are going to advanced education that learn both.
The masses remain happily ignorant with their own unique system the rest of the world hates.
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.

When we went past the borders to Canada, we we delighted to see a speed limit sign saying 100 and merrily stomped on the motherfucking gas pedal.

Not to mention when it comes to sports, the original Football is called "Soccer" in the USA as it has its own "Football."
