Game Disconnecting Issues w/ Windows Vista or 7
#41
Though I agree bashing will not help, it's also pointless to say dumb stuff like "If it is so easy, why dont you tell them how to fix it?" They issue has been present for years, and they make more than enough money to be able to fix stuff like that in a reasonable amount of time. A reasonable amount of time when you have paying customers using your product is NOT 2 years, and then adressing the issue like it's some kind of news. Also, the crap about players versus quiters and to be or not to be welcome here is bloody disgusting.

Doesn't take much to know what was wrong with MapleStory to get it fixed even though we've said it a thousand times. Sadly Street unlike the you, we (Vista and 7 users) have problems because we have newer computers with newer operating systems, and some degree of knowledge about what's going on with our systems in relation to the client. It's not just me trying to get in front of the line

I'm sorry if we all don't have computers that came with Windows XP or can spend $299 dollars on a new copy of XP Pro at the local store at the drop of a hat like people think we can or do. We have Vista and 7 but we're doing just fine thank you because the OS came with our PCs so we are kinda having to use it, plus Microsoft stopped selling XP in stores and shipping it with PCs so... yeah people might want to remember that, and plus Hackshield doesn't allow Compatibility Mode usage, so... again... problem.

Actually I would consider myself better off having stayed playing Maple. At least I know where the problems are and have some insight into them.

Why should I talk up on Nexon? They didn't listen to their user base and now they're getting hammered for it. I have just as big a complaint as the next person. Heck there are people even worse off than I am. I'm just one of many people Street. And as a user with a problem, yeah I think I have a few things to say.

All it takes would be to rewrite the client for Vista at minimum and a lot of the compatibility problems would start going away over time with various fixes and patches. Many people have said this. I'm not the first nor the last to say it Street. You've been here longer than I have so you should know what people here have said.

BTW... I'm no Creator of MapleStory... I'm a player and user of MapleStory... like everyone else here.

So, Street, besides the client rewrite to fix the issue or having a mass amount of people have to track down a valid copy of XP which might not exist? What do you think could be done to fix MapleStory?

Isn't the whole point behind Players vs. Quitters that those who presently experience this game should have a better contemporary grasp of what's going on now, rather than 2 years ago?

You probably have no god given clue what the crap it takes to run this game. I can replace your entire dialog about NEXON with just plain out whining and bitching

And this entire thread isn't a complaint either?

And what it takes to run this game? Could be more and/or better than what it is.

Didn't say it was and the negative energy is really fking depressing. At least they fking acknowledged theres a problem at least they're letting the community know they know theres a problem. Why don't you fking give them that instead of just the negative.

Sometimes harsh criticism is needed, sometimes kind criticism is... in Nexon's case... well has nice and kind criticism worked so far?

So they think the problem aint really the OS incompatibility. I wish people that do not visit high leveled bosses and actually seen the effect could just stop posting there.

Not a graphics issue. My computer ran just fine until the dual blade patch came out. At that point, everything turned even crappier. I'd only DC at Zak every once in a while; now i dc every time. I don't have the HP for HT, but i would assume that it's pretty much the same story. hell i could CWKPQ as long as i wanted, but now i also have to "fix" the problem by chaniging resolutions constantly. Its not that only "some" people have the problems, it's the fact that it shouldn't have problems at all. These"fixes" didn't really fix anything; they;'re like using bandaids for an infection rather than antibiotics.

OH NO NOT DISCONNECTIONS FROM JUST STANDING AROUND.

Bossing is where the ACTUAL problems surface. Your point could be the cause of any extremely common symptom from lag to poor hardware and should NOT be compared to bossing incompatabilities because it's not even relevant.

You don't understand, because you haven't put this into perspective. It should NOT have taken this long. Why? Well read further:

I think everyone forgot, but I sure didn't. They actually mentioned having Windows 7 computers, and I clearly remember Nexon being snarky as usual "well WE have windows 7 and Maplestory runs just fine for us." The heavy implication was that users with Windows 7 weren't configuring their computers properly and that no real issues existed.

Fast forward to today's increased adoption of newer operating systems, and now that people are getting d/c issues en masse, especially at bossing, they have finally acknowledged there has been a real problem all this time.

Retards.

Thing is, same buddy has a 172 Hero he is no longer able to ZRun on, due to the bossing disconnects. He used to be able to do it, even on Windows 7, by fiddling with graphics resolution at every body change, but now that doesn't work anymore. He disconnects at bosses, and he disconnects in normal maps. He disconnects when standing still, when cc'ing, when on high level chars, and when on nubs. It's all symptoms of the same issue, it all appeared at the same time. Needless to say, he hasn't changed his hardware that used to work just fine on Maple, and still works fine with every game and program except Maple.
Also, his older computer running XP and using the same network (obviously) has none of those problems.

You don't need to explain something that's happened exactly like that to me in order to prove a point. I said bossing is where the real problems surface, and you retort with saying the same thing?

Not true. Windows 7 forces maplestory.exe to close at random points while the program is executed.

I'm saying that nub disconnects are not irrelevant, as you stated. They are just as relevant as bossing disconnects, because they are caused by the same underlying issues.
Therefore, saying only bossers should post on Nexon's forums is wrong. Everyone who's had the game go bonkers should complain and give info.

 Spoiler

That's basically what's been happening to Vista and 7 users. Did I leave anything out? Shine

Sigh, I miss when I could play without these issues.
