This.

How do you add stars and all those special stats to your items? Can someone please explain EVERYTHING? What's with the epic/unique items?

Ok, this is how it works.

There are 2 kind of new scrolls: Normal, and Purple/Dark ones.

To use them, you're item must be 0 slots.
Normal ones: If they work, they give random stats to the item. When one work, a star will be added. Everytime you succeed one, the next one will have lower success rate. If the scroll fails, breaks the item.
Purple/Dark ones: If they work, they make the item to be "unidentified". That means you'll have to use a magnifying glass on it (sold at pot shops). Once you use it, the item gets their "hidden" new stats. These kind of stats are the ones shown under the line.

So purple/dark ones basically means free hax stats? if they fail do they destroy the item?

What i don't understand is the reason for blowing everything up all the time. With this system, the use of a durability item goes through the roof. Scroll it well normally, and then get a purple scroll to work as well as a few star scrolls, not to mention the tablets and you've got a weapon that far outclasses anything that doesn't break. If not for the EXTREMELY slim chance that you'll pass a few of everything without having it blow up first.

@ Rigumaro: Thank you for that. Biggrin

This system seems pretty amazing, with enough luck, but automatic breaking is pretty harsh. Hopefully that will change, so that way star scrolling is actually worth it. I like the idea of the dark scrolls, but as I don't know their chance of working or if they break items like the star scrolls do, then I can only hope they work like shoe spike scrolls or something. Small % chance of working but don't take away slots. I mean, both types of scrolls don't affect the slots of an item but the sense of taking away from it (in the case of these new scrolls, breaking) but just let it work a small amount of the time.

Also, do the dark scrolls, when stats are 'identified', count as a star on the item or can stats be 'identified' only once? This whole system is still so confusing. x_x

yes , fail = 100%item break

Not a fan of this system, guess I could have a field day with replaced reverse items I can't trade away though.

Yeah, I was thinking this too...my extra sword is finally useful. Tongue1

Edit: Removed to prevent anyone else getting confused.

I don't think they're from the cash shop. They're not listed as cash shop items in the data.
#53
Depending on how many extra stats you can get from these upgrades, factoring in the 100% break chance if it fails, would it be easier to use 7 10%/60%s (or any random cheap scroll) on a weapon to get it down to 0 slots, then use these scrolls on it resulting in a potential greater stat gain than if you had got 7 x 10/30%s to work?

It's just that with the breaking, it'd be annoying to lose something you scrolled really well but less annoying if it was terribly scrolled in the first place.

protip - don't stand in fire

Fire is too complex for the average Mapler to comprehend. Shouldn't it be void zones now? Rolleyes

I must've misinterpreted what was said in some post concerning this kmst patch then. Though I'm still betting they'll be from some 'premium' area.

According to Spadow, you can buy this stuff from Goldstein and pot shops. I don't know what they'll be doing for the official servers.

How many times can you use "Scroll for Potential" on an item?
#58

Can Slate scrolls still regain slots after these scrolls have been used by any chance?

I'll be very happy if they can.

They don't waste slots to begin with.
