Heart Gold / Soul Silver need to know

I don't know about the exclusives for the remakes, but back then, I think the ONLY exclusives were the cover-Pokemon. Ho-oh or Lugia. I was naive to think Ho-oh was better than Lugia back then, lol.

Nah, the exclusives are actually almost the exact same list as the exclusives for the original games. The only difference is that the Teddiursa/Phanpy line was switched between the Japanese and international versions (Teddiursa was in Silver in Japan, while Phanpy was in Silver in English) and that now they're properly matched up, and that Gligar and Mantine have received an evolution and a baby form, respectively. Ho-oh and Lugia are available in both games.

Probably both, and I have no idea why, it's not like I'm missing any of the exclusives from either game already on DS gen games, Pretty sure if I put the time in (year right) I could already get all the pokemon bar unobtainable legendaries... Hrm...

If you trade a pokemon from the japanese version to the american and vice versa does it translate upon trade?

I am getting Soul Silver. I was going to get Heart Gold but the Lugia figure convinced me otherwise.

The name and OT don't translate, but besides that, yes.
(For the record, I'm bringing Horsea in from Pearl, not my HeartGold. `-`)

The pokemon name and OT aren't translated. It's the only way to get Japanese named pokemon in an English game. Everything else translates. In fact, a lot of Japanese players liked putting Japanese Pokemon on the MTS in hopes of exchanging it for the same Pokemon, in English. That way, both players get a foreign Pokemon.

I'm going to get both versions because:

1. I want to catch all 493 Pokemon.
2. I got Nintendo DS, and Nintendo DSi
3. I had Silver before getting Gold. Generation 2 is my least favorite of the series, but the remake of this = MAJOR ING IMPROVEMENT! YEAH!
4. WHO WANTS TO SEE MY RUBY AND SAPPHIRE TEAM BATTLE EACHOTHER VIA WI-FI!! YEAH!

Gold was the first version I played, so yeah. Can't wait to have that lvl 92 ho-oh in a great ball again

Well I played the Japanese Silver, so I suppose I would switch to Gold if I was to ever play it again.

$40 before taxes like every other DS game I would assume.

Most DS games as soon as they come out are $30~35. I assume this is more expensive due to the Pokewalker.

In the US, that was given out at the store that I don't even go to, which is Toys 'R Us!

Benefits of having an R4: I can cheat to get the required items so I don't need to go to stupid events to get Pokemon.

Getting Soul Silver first, then Heart Gold later. Now, when later is, I don't know. I still haven't accomplished my mission of collecting DPPt, I only have Diamond.

How is that a benefit? It's not like event Pokemon have any monetary value or make the game more interesting. All you gain is the ability to say that you have a hacked Pokemon. No one really cares about that. Even if it was kind of pointless, I thought it was pretty fun to go to Gamestop and get my Jirachi.

What the hell are you talking about? A 30 minute walk and a 10 minute train ride to Gamestop and fiddling with my DS for 15 seconds was not a very painful experience. I always think it's nice to know that you own a legit copy. It's not like I'm going to be doing all that much with the Pokemon, anyway. Technically you could hack 493 Pokemon with no effort, but then why are you even playing the game?

And what's this about waiting 4 months?
