So I trained my ass off last night on Brawl from 9 until like 1 A.M. I hadn't played that thing in about a year, and I looked up some Falco techniques and stuff. And I can finally beat a level 9 Marth easily. Except that's the only one I can beat so far. But I'm proud of myself. :>

If only that was grand finals instead of winner's finals, it would've been more entertaining lol.

I agree, but oh well.
Actually, serious question here. What character(s) do you guys play as? And which one do you use the most (aka main)? I'm sure everybody here knows I main Jigglypuff. I only play as Captain Falcon, Fox, Falco, or Marth for friendlies or just for fun against newbs. You guys?

If I was practicing for a tournament, I'd be using Falco. Since I hadn't intended to go to another tourny, my Zelda and Young Link are pretty well-practiced. They're so fun to play as~

I have a lot of trouble against Fox and Falco, srsly. Surprisingly, when I played against one of my friend's friend (guy's name is Matt), and he trained with my bestfriend (Andrew). Andrew taught him how to W-dash, shffl, etc. Eventually, Matt could predict Andrew, and Matt got better. So anyways, I played this Matt dude at a cafe, and I got my ass raped during the 1st 4-stock match. 2nd match came close, he had one stock left, and I almost won. ;~; Falcos are such a pain in the ass. Are you more defensive or offensive with your Falco? Because I know for a fact certain people's playing-styles differ. Matt's style is extremely offensive, where-as my bestfriend, Andrew's style was more defensive, because he'll laser my ass most of the time instead. ;~; Fcking Falcos.

Why would you need to go falco for a tourney? Go with the character you like the most! No one knows how to play against a zelda
And I have no idea what kind of falco I am. I think I try to be aggressive but I keep messing up so I turn to playing like cactaur lol

If you have a camera, and I'm sure you do, try to record you matches and analyze your battles, and you'll figure it out. That's how I studied my own Jigglypuff. I make some of the dumbest mistakes in matches, seriously. -facepalms- I do aerials way too much, and I've learned to do that significantly less these days. I've been practicing my Wave-Dashing, Wave-landing, and short-hops on my Jigs these days.

And there's the problem. I actually DON'T have a camera haha.
As much as I would like my matches to be recorded sometimes, I either:
1. Don't have a camera
2. I don't make it far enough in a tourney for my matches to be recorded.
3. I don't have many friends that have enough time to play smash anymore.
From the first two tournies i went to, I generally know what kind of easy mistakes I make. Stupid things like failing to jump out of a shine after hitting the shield (easy shield grab), missing the L-cancel, missing techs, NOT DI'ing, that kind of stuff. First step to upping my game is to get consistent tech skill. Because of the lack of consistency, I get easily shield grabbed and punished. So I'm hoping this next monthly I'm going to, i'll have a little more consistency.

I can't play well against Falcos at all. I would have to use my weak Fox to even stand a chance to take some stock off them since my Marth is too defensive. The last time I played a good Falco, he camped me from the ledge using double ledge lazerz. I did use to do better against Foxes with my Marth though. Never had too many problems with them unless they were extremely good. (I HATE WAVESHINE DAIR COMBOS THEY ARE SO ANNOYING)

But I haven't been to a tourney in something like... how long ago was FC6? That long. Neither my Zelda nor my Young Link were very good then... I think I was using Fox at the time. Anyway, I'm sure I would at least try those characters if I somehow find another tourney, but hell if I can find one.
My Falco is nothing at the moment. I haven't put serious time into him (like... more than 3 consecutive matches) in at least 2 years. I'm sure he's garbage.

I was calling my bestfriend a while ago, and telling him that I improved. He told me that '2' years back, at a community-center that me and him both went to, him and his friends organized a Smash tournament. He said these people were there:
-M2K
-Scar
He might have said Azen or Ken, but I don't remember. He does have pictures too, if I ever get it off of him, I'll upload in this thread. I do remember playing against a ton of pros at the community center in my town 2 years back, there was a couple Sheiks, Falcos, and a ton of Foxes. They were all competitive players, this was before I got into the huge competitive scene... So I'll update you guys on this once I get pictures off of my bestfriend, if I manage to.
PS: Oh, my bestfriend plays a beast Falcon, and he said he got a chance to meet Scar, but Scar sandbags a lot.. and he's a douche, or so my friend says. lol.

Oh, here's a vid with all of the pro Smashers coming to my town at the local community center. They had a HUUUUGE smash tourney here.... I think M2K and some others are in this vid, I'm watching it now as I post it on here. Yes, that is in my town, it's like 2 mins away from my house. `-`

Stamina + Flower means that you choose Special Brawl in the menu, then pick Stamina / HP and flower, and set the HP of the CPU to 1, and just leave your own at 150. This means you can just start a match which will be won by you in 1 second. This way you can get any character by winning matches (you do have to defeat them).
I recently started using Marth (in Brawl, although he didn't change much except for more balanced damage, a stab-motion Shield Breaker(special) and more horizontal movement on Dolphin Slash (up special). Dair is still really deadly if you know how to use it) and I'm wondering if there are any advanced techniques besides up-smash dash cancel, footstool-spike and stuff everyone else can do. I googled a bit but it didn't really help me so I figured I could ask here. Also, are his grabs/throws really that bad or is it just me (I never really had a lot of trouble grabbing/throwing on Lucario or Falco).

So for all the brawl players. An experiment is being held almost SPECIFICALLY for metaknight to reduce planking and camping.
This experiment includes the usage of food and some items being turned on again. How do you guys think about this?
Even though I'm not a brawl player, I just think this is retarded. If this experiment is a success, it's going to be one of the largest turning points in smash history. We're going to modify a rule that's been in since SSB64 solely to balance one character? Ridiculous.

I think this is really stupid. I think Nintendo really screwed up at Metaknight, he's just way too powerfull.

Yeah, and most Jig players will use this to their advantage (ie: Manga and Hbox), the only grounded Jigglypuff I've seen that was completely beast was Magus. But Ganon is Magus's main character, so.. lol. Even then, his playstyle differs tremendously. Nice to watch difference in playstyles and improve, teehee.
