And nope. Letting unresolved feelings linger is never a good thing.

Perhaps a girlfriend isn't the best idea for you right now. Would you engage in a relationship with someone contemplating suicide?

Science girls are the bomb. A couple of weeks ago after finishing up physics homework early with this one girl in her apartment I noticed she had MW2 lying in her apartment. We ended up playing special ops until 1 in the morning. And there are a slew of other awesome gamer girls that I've met in my other classes...
I guess when you enter college there are certain selection factors that are not necessarily there in high school. And even in college there are further factors and areas that you can explore so you can find other people with similar interests. I've generally lucked out since freshman year as most of the people I've dealt with are community gamers who are pretty cool people overall.

I have went through a situation like this. I felt inadequate and unloved, and lashed out against the world. I purposely failed school, ditched all the time, ran away from home, and attempted to commit suicide numerous times. But what got me through it all is knowing it is what I think about myself, not others. I figured this out because I eventually got sent to a residential treatment center for 10 months. Truthfully, the therapists did little to nothing to help me; the counselors were no better. It just gave me lots and lots of time to think. And what I concluded is that I can have a good life even if I do not get all that I want. I realized that the best love to have is love for yourself. If you don't love yourself then how could you ever see that others love you? How can you get what you want if you are ashamed of yourself. So after ten months I went back to my home and I have yet to get in trouble, fail a class, ditch school, do things to impress my friends, or really seek out a relationship that really shouldn't be. Sure, I am not even close to being better because I still have a strong mental addiction to Maple Story. I literally had withdrawals when I was sent away to treatment, and that is embarrassing. However, I'm making my progress and life's great. So quit feeling so bad about yourself and love yourself. When you do you'll feel a lot better and your life will go a lot more smooth and you will probably make more friends, girls included, and receive (and notice) the affection you wanted from the very beginning.

I got so down on myself that I actually took over 30 sleeping pills and was so close to dying, it is probably a miracle that I even lived because I was only about 100 pounds. I'm not going to lie to you, it will be hard. Coming out of a depressed state isn't easy, but you'll look back on it and realize that you are happy that you got through it.

I think I might have been reading too much on the fact that you seem a bit depressed. But, I was also depressed once, and honestly it didn't have any affect on me and the way I would feel about a girl.
If you are just looking for a companion (because you can hang out with them too, without being in a serious relationship) I think you should just try to find some buddies. And the ones that you do have online (Maplestory, forums, etc) can be considered real companions (even though many may argue against that). I spent most of my high school days talking to a friend on AIM and if we were in real life we would only be talking anyways, so it doesn't make it any less of a conversation. If you do want a real relationship though, I think you should go for it. You can't really cure shyness, but you can be more assertive, such as saying hello or good morning to a fellow classmate. Hell the person I am going out with right now used to think I was weird in high school ....And nothing happened until I actually started talking to her. You might just need to break the awkwardness barrier first, then become friends, and if you end up clicking then bam. Don't try to be friends with a girl just because you like her, and I also advise you to not get into such a serious relationship because you might end up parting ways for college (it's a heartbreaker) and if you don't break up be prepared for some hellish days.

Truth is, you're only ready for a relationship if you have the patience and willpower for one (and yeah, money isn't necessary, though you might want some amount of money for movies, shopping with the chick, etc). People don't need a girlfriend or a boyfriend, they just think they do. Live your life how you want to live it. It's not like in the movies or TV shows, that's reality for ya.
Life is about doing something to improve society and to live peacefully and happily. We work to enhance our nation too, in a way. When we work, our money goes to our government. What do you think you're doing with all that money? You're enhancing society. In a way, that's what life is in actuallity. You don't need anyone. You just want someone. As long as you think you're content with your life, it doesn't matter. Live your life as how you wish you live it. Don't rush into a relationship because you think you like the opposite gender either. It takes a lot of time and patience to maintain a good relationship. All my friends said that I'm a player for knowing so many girls and going on dates, but I envy my friends, because they at least found a perfect match for them. I haven't found mine, but I'm being patient. You should try doing the same.

I doughbt I will ever find a girl I've had one gf and she was way dramatic and needed emotional control, since then almost no girl has done anything towards me.

Your pessimism isn't going to make your life any better for you. If you refuse to look at the bright side of life, then I'm afraid Southperry can't help you out that much.

Dang....People these days get into relationships at such a young age T_T. Well, compared to me at least, lol I wouldn't know about my great grandparents ![]() Anywho, just because a girl hasn't done anything to you doesn't mean she can't like you. I mean, that's how shy people are right? If a shy guy is surrounded by a bunch of shy girls, what happens? NOTHING. I know it's not easy, but seriously you're going to have to be more assertive. I don't mean changing yourself to become that hip popular kid with the BRO status. I just mean try to engage in some sort of conversation or something of the sort.

Would asking a friend to hug or snuggle with them feel awkward or do you think they could be ok with it?
2009-12-01, 06:16 PM
Yes they would be uncomfortable. That sort of thing happens naturally if both parties want for it to happen (or if the girl initiates it...)
Why are you so obsessed with touching?
