IllegallySane Wrote:Random thing, but I read things like Morphling and Naga went from god tier to crap with a few changes such as Morphling needing more mana to change AGI <-> STR, and apparently nerfing Naga's base damage by 12 was enough to make people not wanna use her as much. Any of this holding truth, or just people overreacting to hero nerfs?? Morph was strong because you could toss him solo mid and he'd have a huge impact by 20~25 minutes. Icefrog gave his laning the hammer. Morph could still be really strong, just not solo mid. His sole strength was the ability to solo and get out on top. Naga was strong due to early game aggression and partly due to dark seer vaccum interaction. Her riptide had the cooldown scaling reworked and the base damage nerf meant that she could be contested for last hits plus didn't hit as hard. She's also still a viable pick, just not as strong. Not that naga was as strong as people make her out to be to begin with. And not being able to vaccum sleeping units also kind of sucked for her interaction with dark seer. There were counters, most definitely: After this the chinese kind of just left her alone not really wanting to pick her. Morphs nerfs were.. too harsh. But he was a bit too strong.

12 base damage is a MASSIVE nerf. During the laning phase, having just 5 more damage than your opponent means you're going to get a handful of incontestable last hits. Many carries start with a +3 stat item specifically to help last hit.

But still, this be the DoTA version of Wombo Combo. So beautiful. Dusk Wrote:12 base damage is a MASSIVE nerf. Any hopes for Naga's damage getting at least partially restored?

Bleh.
Regular matches are so offputting. Enemy team always steamrolls, drags out the game far too long and then always announces how easy the game was. cunts.

Eddikins Wrote:Bleh. Several reasons: You keep grouping with bads. You indirectly helped them steamroll you by unintentionally feeding them, or picked heroes you aren't proficient in using. Alternatively, the other team are just full of pros playing low level accounts for the pubstomping experience.

Early through mid game i was 5/1 until i kept getting ganked by like 3 people with good disables. Game goes on, teamfight in which i get a triple (our team is still losing at this point btw) Then they just focused me every time till we lost.

That's a problem with squishy heroes, because a good gank will take you down fast. Since they were hating you so much, you probably should have nabbed a Black King Bar so they can't shut you down at all, but that's a really big stretch. Linken's Sphere can help a lot as well, since usually if you can escape the 1st disable/nuke then you have a much higher chance of escaping the others.

When people are missing, never farm creeps without having vision of the entrances to the jungle near you. Especially as a squishy hero with no escape like Lina.

I only managed to make enough money for a scepter and then kept getting killed before i could get enough for a linkens

If you link to the match/give match ID i could probably give some pointers as to what to watch out for next time.

Eddikins Wrote:I only managed to make enough money for a scepter and then kept getting killed before i could get enough for a linkens Probably shouldn't have rushed Scepter on Lina. Drum of Endurance and Force Staff/Blink Dagger probably would have kept you alive better and let you carry harder. Heck, even if you were going for massive nuking potential (which is the only real reason you'd rush Aghs on Lina) you might have been better served by an Orchid Malevolence.

Well, yeah that's a problem. Aghanim scepter is too expensive whilst doing too little, drums and forcestaff cost around the same but adds much more utility and much much more surviveability.
Euls scepter is also amazing for getting a stun to hit nearly 100%.

Euls is my favorite item on Lina. Mana, movement speed, and guaranteed stuns in a neat little package.

You can always try a hero with more escapes. Nothing says annoying like a hero with blink, high on-demand movement speed, or can slow/stun pursuers. More bonus points if you can go invisible, although that only works against people without Sentry wards or True Sight Gems.
Or you can always carry 1-2 TP scrolls on you so you always have that "ABORT! ABORT!" button. |
