My MLawnchair is 51, and I've spoken to pretty much every single NPC in the game, while also looking through all the available quests in my Quest Book, and still can't find anything. Are the daily quests available to characters that have already taken a profession?

Well, time to start playing again. Now I need to figure out what class to play, I don't really feel like playing that thief I made at the start of alpha.

I believe so. Alchemists that are level 3-5 (forgot exactly) and level 20-30+ (again forgot which exactly) get the Alchemist related dailies. So no getting dailies for a profession if your character knows no profession.

Are these the same as the daily drill quests that give the cube or material pouches?

It's level 20, if I remember right?

Nope, these are profession-specific.

So you have to be a certain level on your profession before you can get the dailies. Fan-freaking-tastic. It will take an eternity to get out of level 1.

I'm really happy there's no level wipe, but I had some IGN I wanted to take. Oh well! Time to grind!

Was really enjoying my priest and was looking forward to getting to level 20 for the advancement, I advanced to a Monk and good god... this class is freaking awful.
Maybe it was just the dungeon I was in (Golem's Tower) but I couldn't do pomegranate. those big golems I couldn't do any damage to because they hurt you on touch, and my attacks suddenly became stupidly weak. Also there were too many skills to put on my hotkeys and nearly all of them seem useless. and never seem to work.
Really disappointed. I really enjoyed Priest, but Monk sucks. I enjoyed Mage a lot too until I advanced to a Witch and found it quite boring. Eh... I should really do my research before advancing, but as a newbie to the game i'm finding it hard.

Monks are very PvP and combo oriented. They are very mobile with Duck/Sway, but they're not easy to use well in PvE. They also have a bit more of a learning curve as far as controlling them/pulling off their attacks.

The trick to that dungeon for physical-based classes is killing the Golem Controllers first. That will transform the golems (who resist physical damage) into spirit golems that take reduced magical damage. Also, going straight from the base Priest to Monk was... eh. The most similar playstyle to the base class (that you seemed to enjoy) would be physical Exorcist. Monk has a higher learning curve compared to other classes.
Sorry, I know it's hard to know all this as a newcomer to the game. If you enjoyed mage, I would suggest Elementalist. Witch is kind of difficult to get the swing of things.

One rule of thumb I tend to use is look up gameplay videos of the subclasses to get some idea of what sort of class I'll be playing.
Witch is essentially a luck based class since they have a chance to hit hard, hit okay, or fumble with their skills. You get skills to mitigate the bad luck later on to the point you'll essentially no longer have the bad. I found a video of a high level Witch in DnF if you want to take a gander and their skills. It should be somewhat obvious at when a skill is a "Sleeper" (aka rolled high and skill is souped up), normal, or a total dud.

Monk is meant to pummel stuff as much as possible while dodging stuff like you're a shonen character. The class is definitely not an easy class since there's so much you can do with their Ducking and Swaying. Some videos of their gameplay.

I guess the question here is what sort of playstyle do you lean towards more? Do you want to blow up entire rooms of enemies? Be more mobile? Like more of a summon based class? A simple but effective class? Combo oriented class? Like to stay in the back? Like to be in the front lines? Like seeing huge numbers? Like to control the battlefield with status effects or crowd control?
For Mage maybe Elementalist is more to your liking. They are rather bad in the beginning and are glass cannons, but become monstrous damage dealers.

For Priest, Exorcist has 2 styles that are as different as night and day. Physical is in-your-face axe smashing in plate armor. Magical is staying back in squishy clothes and casting spells with lots of utility. The plus side is you can buy a 2nd build (whenever cash shop comes out) so you have both to try out.
Example of Physical Exorcist:

Note: The skill where he picks up and enemy and swings at it falling down like a baseball bat needs to be charged up for maximum effect. You alternate and press the skill button AND the attack button to charge it up quickly. Don't do what I did and mash the Star in the Sky button alone. You'll almost never fully charge it with one button along. So say the button for the skill is "F". Instead of just pressing "FFFFFFFF", press "FXFXFXFXFXFXFXFXFXFX" to charge it up super fast.

**Dang video limit Ah yeah, looking at those videos, Witch and Monk aren't really my cup of tea. Physical Exorcist looks more like what I was expecting for my Priest.
I suppose i'm not very dextrous at these kinds of games, so overly mobile classes don't really do it for me (I struggle with Gunner and to a lesser extent Thief)
The 2 i'm most interested in at the moment are Necromancer and Exorcist. I'll try them both and see what I think.

Ok so wow, I decided to advance into a Necromancer because I already had a Thief level 12, and I am absolutely loving it. It's so much fun right from the beginning, and powerful too. I got SSS rank on Golem's Tower on Masters Road using only the initial 2 skills.
my character also looks super awesome and has an ign that everybody knows and loves:
Total main potential here.
