Lmao. I don't honestly think this is the real timeline. It just can't be. I mean, in the A Link to the Past -> Zelda II timeline split, Ganon has the Trident of Power, which he obtains in Four Swords Adventures. It just doesn't add up.

That would almost have to imply that they have these stories pre-planned, though, which isn't the case (as far as we've been told by Aonuma, at least). ^_~

That doesn't imply that at all. It just implies that they're horrible writers (and all evidence DOES point to this) and have to fill in the many plot holes they create by making a story that jumps around without any real consistency.

What I mean is, if they're putting the classic titles on a separate branch that doesn't make sense at all for the sole purpose of filling in the gaps later, that would imply that they have something planned, which is not very likely at all. Why would they even release a timeline in such a state? There's too much of a gap of missing information there. It's not sitting well for most people who've seen this.

And honestly, the timeline makes perfect sense if you place that A Link to the Past -> Zelda II branch after Four Swords Adventures. There are some inconsistencies, but they pale in comparison to the ones that are formed with splitting them this way.

So, that rumored timeline from Hyrule Historia is confirmed to be the real deal.





Basically it goes :

-Origin stories
--Developer Intent (Hero loses, Ganon and countless other evil entities are sealed in the Sacred Realm by the Sages at the command of the King and Sacred Realm becomes the Dark World.)
--Child Timeline Split (Hero returns to Princess Zelda after going back in time and forewarns the King about Ganondorf's evil ways/plans and proves it with the Mark of the Triforce of Courage and Ganondorf gets executed / thrown into the Twilight Realm.)
--Adult Timeline Split (Hero disappears forever, due to Zelda sending him back in time, Ganondorf breaks free from Sacred Realm, Gods of Old flood Hyrule.)

Interested in how they'll continue the "Child Timeline" since that's the only split where Ganon is currently alive / sealed.

There are still some things missing that I'm interested in their placement, such as the war with the Interlopers - the beings that practiced magic and were thrown into the Twilight Realm originally. What happened to that?

I always knew having LTTP be my favorite would eventually pay off!

My final verdict on this game:

Good:

Bossfights were tight and fun. Final battle was pretty challenging, at least for a Zelda game. For reference I never died even once in TP.

Dungeons had clever puzzles and did not feel too lenghty.

The silent realms was a nice touch to give some challange that was not based on the combat itself.

Story was great. Just great.

Deeper characters development than ever before in a Zelda game. And it was great too.

The upgrade sytem was a good addition, but they could have made more use of it.

Ghirahim. That really says it all.

Bad:

They used the same few monsters over and over through the whole game. Dull as hell.

The sky/overworld really sucked balls. It was more dead than the fields in TP.

The new "China/oriental" style design of the temples felt wrong. It is mostly a taste thing, but it just did not feel very Zelda-ish to me.

Side quests were pretty dull. Standard stuff mostly, and that is not a good thing for Zelda. The haunted restroom was amazing though. x)

No Epona and no massive fields. The butt ugly Loftwing and flying could not match exploring and firing arrows mounted on trusty Epona.

The music. They could have done so much, but they did so very little. The ballad of the goddess was friggin fantastic, but the in game music did not really fly at all.

Demise true form felt a little out of place. Might be because he looks like a complete rip off of the Street Fighter character Akuma.

A good game to be sure, but not even close to what i experienced the first time I played A link to the Past or Ocarina of Time.

Oh yes I am a real nostalgia junkie, but that's not it . It could be that I am older and more cynical now though. Those games I played alone, for this one I had my 5 year old son sit in my lap. I guess it might be the next generations turn to get spellbound now.

I will still hold to my verdict in the end. This is no game of the year no matter what contest, save possibly for best Wii game, and that is a lolworthy achievement in itself.

I'm really struggling to get through skyward sword, I'm at the water dragon dungeon so far and it's just boring me to tears...

Biggest two problems so far...
1)There are only two types of enemies. The ones you wait for it to attack then shield bash then stab to death, and the ones you just have to shield bash the projectile. Hell, the bosses barely change that.
2)I think my copy must be glitched, the "overworld" doesn't seem to be loading properly and it's just an empty white mass of cloud with nothing to do in it. I thought it would have been hard to make an overworld less interesting than the great sea, thanks for proving me wrong nintendo!

The only interesting thing was when Groose followed me to the surface. The rest of the characters are completely forgettable, Impa/Zelda/Link/Ghirahim included. Oh well, I guess I shouldn't have expected more than one mildly interesting character from a zelda game ever.

I dunno, it sounds like you went into the game biased. It's hard to say that any other character in the series as a whole had much character development. And if they did, you can't call it good.

Perfectly agree with the overworld thing though.
