Wii U traveling to vacation spots.

Clever. And if they show off some unreleased games like how we hope they'll do at Best Buy, this might really work.

I'm not trying to be pessimistic, but after how awesome Mario Galaxy was I wouldn't be too optimistic about the next 3D Mario either. Galaxy set the bar so freaking high that things can pretty well go like they did with Mario Sunshine after Mario 64. t was by no means a bad game but it didn't have the impact 64 had.

As for SSB, I just can't imagine what can Namco Bandai bring to the formula while keeping the game 2D, maybe Capcom with its vast experience on 2D platformers and fiighters would have been a better choice. But well, as long as it is balanced, fluid and has as much content as brawl had I don't think it will disappoint... oh and new characters (Megaman please).

By 3d mario standards, sunshine was a bad game. All the levels had the same theme and everything was very similar.
I think you're probably right though. How does anyone even begin to try to top Super Mario Galaxy 1/2? Mario galaxy 3 probably won't have the same impact nor sell the wii u as much as a brand new spin on 3d mario would, and if we end up with Super Mario Land U that plays like the 3DS game, we'll be at the point where we know Nintendo is just pushing 3D mario out to fill a tickbox, which is the last thing we or nintendo need.

On that note: Sakurai confirmed SSBU is being shown a the direct!

At least, that's what I'm told he tweeted.

Honestly, what are we going to get from a new smash bros? It's getting awfully close to another paint by numbers nintendo series. There were fairly big changes from n64->Melee, but the differences from melee->brawl were all relatively minor. The only major change is they need to make a single player that doesn't suck.

I mean, seriously, you get free reign with all of nintendos properties, and the subspace emissary was all that sakurai could come up with? Whoever greenlighted the incredibly sterile enemy designs instead of a range of enemies from all of nintendos history should be ashamed.

So anyone making guesses on which new characters will be added to smash bros?
There aren't too many franchises left that Nintendo has without a rep, but
Isaac (Golden sun), He got in as an assist trophy last time, about time the series gets a playable rep.
Shulk (Xenoblade), Nintendo might be trying to turn this xenoblade into a franchise with the upcoming X game, so it would make sense that they add someone to smash bros
Dillion (The Rolling western). Of all of the new original eShop 3DS games nintendo has put out, Dillion is basically perfect for smash bros. Spinning attacks, dynamite/bombs/his other elemental items, claw punches, digging attacks, Russ for his recovery move, it's all there already! (But then nintendo logic so he might just get skipped over completely...)
Maybe Lloyd (Tales of Symphonia, doubling with an announcement that the recently announced rerelease of ToS and TosBig GrinOTNW is coming to Wii U, would be great news that). Probably getting a namco character seeing as they're helping develop it.

The only thing a 3D Mario game is missing at this point is a deep story. Mario Galaxy's world design in HD is already a huge reason to be excited about it, add a deep story like, IDK Zelda?, and I myself would be sold on it. Maybe a new villain that forces Bowser and Mario to team up, and please make Peach playable, more to redeeming her character from the "useless" stereotype than because I really wanna play with her. American SMB2 is a simple example, finding out everything was a dream at the end of the game was cool.

As for SSB, you gotta admit its single player was miles better than PS battle star royale's. Namco Bandai does know how to make good fighters, Tekken and Soul Calibur being the obvious examples, but both are 3D, thats why I can't think what they can do for a 2D game like SSB. I'm sure no one would appreciate 3D SSB. As for charactes, I just want Megaman (X though thats dreaming too much), Isaac or Ivan from GS (Ivan would make a much more original character than Isaac), Crash Bandicoot just so pineapple you Sony, and IDk, Bomberman, Contra guy, Pacman, maybe even some Digimons to fight Pokemons lol.

Rayman Legends is looking more and more like Harmoknight, except much better.

Hmm, for the next SSB, I have no idea who will be added. If they add a Namco rep, I really would like to see Lloyd. I hope they keep Sonic as well, but at this point I don't see why he wouldn't make it in. They need to add more female characters (Dixie Kong please :|). I also second the inclusion of Bomberman. I've been wanting him in since Melee.

Harmoknight was actually really mediocre. I don't think I ever bothered finishing it. Although I think there are only a handful of music levels planned for the full legends game, which is a shame.

How can they get cleavage like that on a kids game?

I'm not exactly sure why Subspace Embassy got so much hate. I found it fantastic and very fun to play. The enemy designs weren't the best, I will agree with that, but that's about the only fault I can find with it. I certainly replayed it more than a few times and had a blast every single time. I think sometimes people are just a tad too picky.

As for new characters in this SSB...I hope the Dragon Quest rumor I heard was true, I would love that. I'm a huge DQ fan. If Namco Bandai is going to be in on this one, we better see some Tales characters. They certainly have enough.

Sonic gameplay trailer showing 3 full levels, and it is glorious.

If you only watch one level, skip to the third (Desert Ruins Hard Zone) at around 10:00

All I have to say is, between Sonic and Rayman Legends I'd definitely be picking Sonic (but then later I'd buy Rayman cuz its a good game and Nintendo needs the help).

I'm really confused about the name 'Desert Ruins', the whole level has food everywhere, why not just called it Dessert Ruins? I can't tell rather this is a typo or some hidden meaning.

I may have been gone from concole gaming for like 6~7 years or so. But whats with all of these tv console platformers that are 2D? Like this is a serious question. Genuinely upset that most of them I've seen, (and for the wii as well) have like half if not more of the game 2D when its for a console (not handhelds).
