Horntail Eats Hackers

That is the official definition of GM.

Maplestory definition:

GM: Great Masturbater. 40 year old men who like to run around every few months on a game and look cool. Does nothing to prevent hacking, nor arbitrate anything. lern2maplestory.

This is a complainer. There are thousands of them on MS and they always peach and whine about everything.

A GM =/= a prgrammer necessarily. You can't just clump them all together under 1 category and expect them all to have the same job duties. That's like clumping all "employees" in a company and asking the janitor to make multi-million dollar business decisions. From that perspective, then yea, it's an employee and all employees should be able to the same job as any other employee.

yeah i know, the guy i originally quoted had a valid point. Complaining to in game GMs to fix bugs and glitches is like complaining to a nurse that the surgeon didnt do a good job stitching you up. If they care(and nurses typically care more then GMs) then they can go tell the right person about it. If they dont, its not really their problem. I just liked pointing out that both the programmers and the game police have virtually the same title in a company. I happen to be pretty bored.

GM's are always around banning people. They just don't make notices about it. I think they should start again. It's very nice to see your chat box full of blue text of hacker’s names.

in broa, ht got hacked like 5-10 times already this morning.....

GMs banned ht hackers for the first time in the afternoon. But at night, the ht hackers are racking up the kills. So far there's been 4 ht kills and counting...

But therein lies the point. By seeing who got banned, or seeing blue text that mentions of people getting banned, you know GMs are doing their job. As we see from CrazyNomad and ExtremeBeast even though there were some people that got banned from Horntail, we still got many hacked Horntail kills soon afterwards. That means GMs did their job, but so far it was just for show. They are banning, but not enough.

Besides, remember how many SMEGAs got fired off whenever GMs put up a notice on who got banned? If there was ever a better way to rake in money from people spending NX because a GM is on, there it is. Rolleyes

Well like I said it would be nice to see that again. But that doesn’t mean I think they sit around and get paid to do nothing. I know they are on and banning hackers. Gm’s aren’t omnipotent. They can’t be on all servers in all maps at once. Obviously some hackers are going to slip by. That doesn’t mean I think they are doing a great job. It seems like they could do a lot better, that being said I couldn’t even begin to imagine the amount of daily player reports a GM gets and has to investigate. But it’s a bit of a pointless procedure. Give it a couple of days they will have a new account and character and be at it again. They are much better investing their time into stopping hacks. They have the A/B system too which saves the GM’s some work. But we all know how great that is…

Anytime a GM says anything people smega like mad. If they were that bothered about making extra money they would have a GM on every week, declaring how they like pie and misspelling potatoes.

Just from the tespia Q&A, one can see how many idiotic reports people get and the number.

It is literally just impossible to sift through that many reports without a workforce of say 20k+ imo. That doesn't mean 20k GMs but 20k total employees that is split up into different jobs i.e. programmers, GMs, new content ideas, etc...

no, but the GMs should have some filters on reports. I dont know if they do, but if not thats kind of dumb. If there were 15 people reported 30 tiems each today in Himes for hacking, by different people with different ips, dont you think they should go swing by himes first? On top of that, they really need to work on making players happy, which includes showing that they are taking care of the things that matter to the players. When 2 GMs log into khaini, and spend 20 min in FM banning chat botters, but leave HT hackers, WS hackers, and Hime hackers alone, it kinda makes me angry. The ACers in FM piss off any merchant, but rarely do you see those banned, the meso sellers in FM are just annoying, but dont really affect me as much as the hackers in WS or himes, or other popular training areas. HT hackers are somewhat ruining the economy at the same time.

The main problem comes down to manpower. For most of the holiday season it seemed as if GMs were nonexistant. Now there are a few GMs, but it seems like its the same 3 or so people, and they just log into different servers. They really need 3+ GMs per server.

And yeah, i would really like the mass bannings being put into notices again. I remember when hackers actually tried to hide from people, so they wouldnt get reported. Now, they just train in popular areas, and expect the same rights as any other player.

And they really need to get rid of the autoban. In the beginning it was a good idea, but once hackers learned about it, its more or less an inconvenience while the original designers of the hacks figure out how to go undetected. It stalls them for very little time since they just make new accounts and recode the hacks. More often then not, the people it inconveniences most are legits who get caught in glitches.

Google has 20k employees. Blizzard has 2.7k employees. Lol.

Indeed though, it will take time to plow through the reports. I'd estimate 10 people (?) to do the work all day long.

And then there's randomized selection. This makes the process way faster, and besides that there's still the same probability that the report is true or false. (they can't do that when it comes to account banning disputes, due to fairness issues)

They do this when it comes to determining signature validation for the people's approval of state initiatives or referendums. Well, at least in Washington state they do.

The GM's must all be in Khaini because last night in Mardia there was a HT kill every hour or so.

Expensive skills is just part of the game. Legit people do fight HT, and it is nice for them to actually be able to get in without it being filled with script kiddies, and for the drops they get to have value, and not be deflated.

I never said a gm was a programmer. I am saying they don't do anything to the hackers. Every day there are about 10 smegas from the hackers of mardia mocking "GM's". I'm 100% sure they do not exist in mardia. If they do, they are too busy masturbating. I am not complaining about the need to fix the glitch (though the need is there), I am complaining about the GM's not banning hackers. You need to learn to read posts that you quote.

They do have the same title. However it is nearly impossible to talk to the actual programmers of maplestory (if they exist). They are not in game, and the tickets that you can log are responded to automatically by a computer. If you find a GM in game, take a picture. It will be the only time you see it besides events that no one cares about.

This logic is so flawed it's not even funny.

You're basically saying if you don't witness something or whatever, then it doesn't exist. There are so many counterexamples for this.
