So yes, much of value is being lost.
so what, I'm always cynical.
elemental staffs aren't that great in reboot aside from people wanting to anvil them. The others are decent but we have APQ for similar potions so not too much of value is lost. The trouble of needing so many people for CWKPQ is obnoxious. 99% of people doing CWKPQ do it for Spec goggles. Anyone who says they actively do CWKPQ to farm gelts and ssiws cheese are probably just lying to themselves.

It says something will be released later this year.
What resemblance it will bear to the original CWKPQ remains to be seen.

As long as it's not worse or boring, I'm all for them revamping it.

What they're saying is that they already broke it, in preparation for replacing it, and haven't been able to get it fixed in time for this week's patch.

Are elemental staves any good nowadays? I see them come from gachapon and sell dirt cheap in Scania.
I am also on the side of approving its closed so far as its updated. At the very least eliminate the job restrictions and make it available from the PQ lobby map, this PQ is not any harder than Kenta's or Prison Escape anymore.

All the more reason for them to stop adding new content and fix more bugs because they just keep breaking more and more stuff.

It's more of them needing to dedicate more resources to their QA testing department. A good portion (if not majority) of the exploits/bugs in the game are regressions of previous patched ones. The job expectation for the QA position literally says "You will: Regress previously identified issues in order to verify defects have been addressed and are no longer occurring." too LOL
The fact that I can casually message mmbryan and go like "hey, you see that new item in marvel? it's exploitable if _____ and it's very likely" says a lot about the state and quality of the game

Half the exploits are extensions of things that were "fixed" in a specific case but not for the underlying issue. Neither of us play the game anymore but we saw so many bugs in the code that we know where similar exploits will pop up.
Nexon fixing exploits is like putting duct tape over a cracked, rusting pipe - fixing the immediate issue but ignoring the underlying problem. Even with many of us specifically telling Nexon "hey, this pipe is rusted, right here, this is why it's rusted" and they still continue to ignore it. And half the time they'll ban you for knowing too much about an exploit.

You know, people say "MapleStory is old, that's why it's so hard to maintain."
But I took Programming 101 back in 1982, and even then we were already taught to never copy-paste code, always use functions or procedures.
The fact that Nexon insists on copy-pasting code, and then fixing one instance but neglecting to fix a dozen others, is just mind-boggling to me. How can such a huge project be developed like that?

Software developers aren't paid or respected nearly as much in South Korea as they are in the US, are they?
Also, got some specs last night, so I guess I don't care as much if they close it for a bit. I wanted the smiling mask too, but oh well.

Naively, I thought it would be cheaper and better for the business to hotfix bugs rather than put the effort into solving the root cause, but I've since learned that around 60~70% of the cost of programming goes towards maintenance and bugfixes. I can't even fathom how much money NxNA must have wasted fixing bugs multiple times. It seems like such an obvious area to improve to save the most amount of money. Especially when your damn user base continuously points it out.
Are the roadblocks of having to go through NxKR the problem? Wouldn't mama korea at some point, realize, they're approving the same hotfix for the same issue many times over? Or are all the NA and KR programmers just totally incompetent? I can't think of any logical reason their bugfixes have worked this way for so many years. It's almost like they want the game to die.

It could also be the lack of man power. I mean, I can believe the NxKr thing. It could also be that Kr cares more about KMS than other versions. From what I recall, JMS has its own inhouse team. Now I could be wrong in saying this, but isn't JMS relativly bug free? If so that could explain a lot. How fast are the bugs in KMS fixed?

I don't think this is true. Like when CWK came out and there were still some Korean strings inside the data, there were Korean strings inside the new Mushroom Shrine revamp and blockbuster.
(I also played JMS for a couple of hours and I D/C'd just about as much as I would have in GMS. But that might just be me.)

They could easily just implement a white hat program like all the other big company (eg: https://www.facebook.com/whitehat). If they're too cheap to pay people with money, I'm sure some people are fine with NX or something along those lines--especially random maplers who come across an exploit accidentally.
Last time I inquired about this, they said that any testing/searching of exploits would violate the ToS so they would still ban me and reserve the rights to sue. (I can understand the latter but the former is just wrong)
Oh and happy 1 year anniversary I wonder how long it'll take them to realize...
