I just want to thank the OP for bring this to light for those who didn't know about it.

Yes, thank the OP for another economy crippling meso generator. Great idea. Helpful stuff is fine, I'm not discrediting him/her for that at all. Really, thank you for your attempts at giving people a hand, Krysti. But this stuff does more harm than good.

It's hard to cripple an economy that's already dead. I personally don't think this will have as much of an impact as you guys are making it out to be, at least not in Bellocan.
It still takes time and effort to log on all the mules and kill the boss multiple times -- most people I can think of are too lazy and won't see this as a worthwhile use of their time.

I could be wrong, though, and this could cause the economy to collapse even further. We'll see.

I doubt it'll have a stupendous effect, but at this point making things worse little by little adds up after a while, yknow? Didn't we have some star event a few years back that crapped out potions like this? Didn't that get adjusted accordingly? I just don't see why this shouldn't be given similar treatment.

considering botters get exponentially more a day, no, this isn't crippling at all.

So I guess the way this works is that you just flat out ignore certain people around here... the "people with problems" as it were. LOL

If you actually attempt to try and refute any of their imaginary problems they just degenerate into an Internet slap fight... my guess is that most of these people probably got banned from the game at one point and most of their "problems" are just pent up bitterness and indignant frustration over that fact.

What I don't get is... why are they even here? I mean, they obviously don't ~like~ the game, they obviously think the game is ~terribly~ flawed and just ~horrible~.... soooo... yeah... why not just go play some OTHER game? I mean, there's tons and tons and TONS of MMORPGs out there... why stick around in the ~one~ game that you obviously find so absolutely abhorrent to your ~very~ delicate little gaming sensibilities?

Like I said before... SUCKS TO BE YOU GUYS! Big Grin

Also no one has posted a maplestory topic in weeks and they mostly die because only boneheads like you are the ones addicted to this boring game. I play smash, trove, pokemon, puzzles and dragons, one piece treasure cruise, and fire emblem when it comes out.

Stop deflecting your empty life onto others. I find it amusing how morons on this forum can't even figure out there are entire SUB topics, ones MORE popular than maplestory on this damn thing, why do you think admin was trying to find a more interesting topic to dedicate the website too?

EDIT: Also it was you who turned this into a slap fight, reflect on your actions, child. All I said was a small jab towards an economy that apparently has no relevance to you since all you care about is being borderline semi-godly. You tried to justify your insanity and protect what even the COMPANY wants to die.

Yeah I like doing that on my main, killing all the easy/normal bosses and selling their drops. You also get reward points from doing it, as well as cubes on occasion, plus equips to sell or extract. I've kind of decided here lately that the level 140 equips are actually better to just NPC because they have such a high chance of giving you dumpy rainbow rocks instead of superior crystals. I think on the whole you probably get more mesos out of them that way.

It really isn't too hard to make a lot of money in Maplestory, the only "hard" part is deciding what you want to spend it on, because there's just such a huge variety of things. I mean you could buy Cash Shop equips, you could buy cubes, clean slates and safety scrolls and such to upgrade your equips, you could buy familiar cards to collect, you could buy rare equips to collect, you could buy chairs to collect, you could buy mounts to collect, you could buy 2x coupons, bossing potions, etc, etc, etc.

The prices for all those things aren't usually too high for most of them in general... you just have to decide which ones you want the most. That's why, on the whole, it really doesn't matter if the prices on some things are driven down, because there's always "more things" to buy.

I have someone in my skype southperry chat who sold an NX hat for 10b, and even exclaimed end game gear is much much higher (refer to image). You're really in lala land regarding this.

Probably most people don't have the time, patience or energy to do it every day either. It takes me a good hour or two at this point to cycle through twenty some odd mules... and even I likely won't do it every day. I like to try and get semi-decent rings and such though and then I try and "perfect" them with the BB scrolls and stars and then I give them out to random new players. Most "average" players likely don't even have more than ten mules at most.

PS - "Problem Guy" up there is easy enough to ignore, but I would like to thank him for providing himself as a convenient placeholder so I don't need to double post. ^__^

PSS - Forgot to mention earlier, damage cap is around 55 mill per line, meaning you only actually need just a few "Godly" equips to even hit that... hence the reason some people have been whining about wanting the damage cap raised, because it easily reaches a point where more "Godly" equips just don't even matter at all. Well, not that they really matter in the first place, unless you want to solo chaos bosses... for... I dunno, rare equips to sell I guess. Obviously you wouldn't need them for yourself at that point so selling them is the only real point. But you can make loads of money other ways that don't require "Godly" equips and chaos bosses. I don't even really understand why anyone would just buy "Godly" equips in the first place... I mean that takes all the fun and point out of the game. I remember the first time I got "Legendary" on an equip... that was just super awesome. If you just bought "Legendary" equips, well... what's the point of even playing? That's like using cheat codes in a game to instantly win. I suppose if you just don't have much time to invest in the game it might make some sense, but otherwise it's pretty pointless.

I actually kind of wish this guy was right... if the "economy" of Maplestory was dead I wouldn't have such a nasty time trying to find a good spot in the Free Market. Competition is so bad that many people resort to DCing players in order to get better spots, especially in the bottom portals. The "economy" is actually thriving quite nicely... which is odd considering how OLD the game is... most MMORPGs do not last ten years, especially ones primarily aimed at kids and teens. Most of them go the way of ToonTown, so few players left that the owners just close up shop completely and shut the game down (I think it's been resurrected though since in some limited form).

EDIT - Scratch that, I re-read the ED article, it's only been resurrected in fan form and apparently only kludgy, broken, semi-complete versions on private servers still exist.

It's also pretty surprising given than Nexon does very little, if any, actual advertising and marketing with the game. They used to do product tie ins and big marketing campaigns all the time... 7-11, Coca Cola, etc, etc... now they don't really do anything and yet the game is still going strong. Even with the number of "problem guys" constantly going around trying to encourage others to stop playing and even with the continuous DDoS attacks and maintenances... the game remains as solid as a rock. Maybe it's not so great in the "lesser worlds"... but, that's why they're doing a "world merge" on the 9th.

PS - Apparently if you haven't blown 10 billion on a Cash Shop equip you're just not playing the game right... or something. ಠ_ಠ

BAHAHAHAH YOU PLAYED TOON TOWN. That explains everything. Honestly you're right, so many MMO's don't last as long as maplestory!

I don't want to be part of your little fight between Khani or anything...but this is where I have to interject. It takes more than a few godly equips to hit that cap. I've only been back to MS for about 3 weeks, but I know for a fact it takes a lot more than just a "few" godly equips to make some serious profit from bossing. As a matter of fact, just because you hit the cap doesn't even mean that you're capable of soloing the boss. %boss and %pdr are huge (at least for me since I play a Night Lord). Every piece to that character is very important. For instance, if I were to solo a boss like Hard Mag, I would need every type of equip to solo it. You can't just stand there and hold Quad throw because you'll get hit by something that can easily OHKO you. The new bosses require actual control + the range (good range helps beat the timer).

Krysti Wrote:hence the reason some people have been whining about wanting the damage cap raised, because it easily reaches a point where more "Godly" equips just don't even matter at all. I agree and disagree here in some points. If you want to solo chaos bosses like CHT, CZAK, etc...then yeah. A few godly equips is what you need. But, the profit from those bosses are very minimal since it's very achievable for a lot of players who are..."dedicated." When you want to make more profits from bosses like CVEL and Hard Mag, you need everything to do it. 2m-2m is practically a must if you want to solo. If you go in a group, that is totally different.
But the game has changed dramatically since the last time I used to be very active. People don't focus on going in groups anymore. The word "guild" actually has less meaning that it used to. Most serious players focus on themselves because they want to solo bosses (at least the "dedicated" players that were talking about).

Also, it's not really up to you to decide what's pointless in this game. People do things in Maplestory that I probably would've never fathomed to do initially when I first started playing (i.e. paying 300 a month to a guy in Egypt to help grind my bishop to 200). Some people have goals, but want to use the extra caliber to reach it faster. Does it make it right? Not necessarily. But let people choose how they want to play the game.

There is more to MS than just trying to be godly. There are a lot of cool things you can do that can involve your friends - this is only if you're playing the game for what it actually is (for fun and not for profit). The "dedication" theory though...I'm not to sure. Because even with that 500k range, you're still limited in terms of bossing. Even 1m range isn't even very good for a solo boss runner. I see both sides of the argument, but this kind of just goes to the question..."How bad do you want it?"

TLDR - nice find OP.

yall people sayin the game takes skill need to open your eyes and realize that for every ounce of skill you have a pound of cash had to go along with it

Adapting to the new bosses is a skill. Money is involved though in some areas. But that solely depends on how far you want to go at a fast pace I guess.

buying nx from other players doesn't change the fact that someone else spent a dollar value input to get that into the system

there is literally no way to advance to that point in this game that does not involve fat stacks of cash from someone somewhere

you gotta spend money to make money, it's a bit easier now that cubes are craftable but still

"advance to that point in the game." Well what point are we talking about here? (pretty vague if you ask me)
But nonetheless, you don't really have to spend money to make money in the game (it just helps). There are lots of good ways to make some good coin (i.e. make a lvl 33 character on 1 account and collect a good scroll that sells from 300m a pop). Cubes and fragments drop from certain bosses. The money that can be put into the game may help make you reach the high-end game point faster (theoretically) , but it's not a prerequisite to reach that point.

This point, you know, where you can challenge new bosses?

SunYanZi Wrote:Adapting to the new bosses is a skill. Money is involved though in some areas. But that solely depends on how far you want to go at a fast pace I guess.

It is impossible to be at a level to challenge new bosses in the game without money coming from somewhere. Money is involved in all areas, a fast pace is necessary because without it its so slow by the time you become strong enough to challenge the so called 'new boss' its a year old and theres something even crazier out there.

All of Nexon's new endgame boss content in Maplestory is restricted to the top 0.00001% of players.

I would like to agree with you, but there are a few things i'd like to point out. Yes your right that there are a multitude of ways to get MESOS in this game quite easily.

But PoetryIsFail and MuscleWizard do have a point. Once you reach the point where you can solo every Current Boss and future upcoming boss, there is money involved somewhere. Usually the case is that the person makes so much meso that they self sustain off that meso where they can just buy nx. Poetryisfail is more correct on his point that money is needed to defeat the top bosses and that there only available to those who are within the top .0001% because they can self sustain and buy nx of others.

But Musclewizard is wrong with his claim simply because it does not refute yours at all. Your claiming that to defeat new end bosses does take skill, which i will agree, if you don't know wtp your doing with new bosses, you will get eaten alive and die in a miserable corner no matter how much money you have.

I've seen this as i helped to train people to kill cvellum because that person had no control over their character. Once they learned how to control their characters more, they were able to kill it without much trouble

While Musclewizard is claiming that even if there is skill, it basically doesnt count because money was involved somewhere, which somehow negates the effort of those who minimized the money they had to personally spent. That is where his claim is wrong. It does not negate a persons effort. If anything all Musclewizard did was try to side step your claim at best by basically saying no matter what you do, you are reliant on money so therefore you suck.

TLDR: PoetryIsFail has a point, MuscleWizard point is wrong because hes not addressing what SunYanZi is saying and merely side stepping it. Poetryisfail got more into the heart of the matter

edit 1: i already know im going to get pommed to hell for this. But ill say it already. No i dont feel bad about it.

I can't wait to see the reaction of those who think Maplestory is still popular and doing fine when their precious game closes in less than a year.

I still come back every 2-3 months or so and I close the game after less than an hour because it became a big clusterfuck that not only became horribly designed over the years but also completely deserted.

I mean, I am not stopping you from playing the game, but I have seen better-doing games close. Nexon is most likely holding on to it because a handful of people are still stupid enough to throw money at the game.
