I'd be inclined to believe you if they didn't provide ways to hit the old level cap efficiently. When they released Big Bang leveling to 200 was a chore, it was slow the best you had was Temple of Time. Then they released something to make it much faster, LHC improved getting to 200 massively. They even went a step further and created another party play area for level 165's, making that another alternative. I see no reason why they wouldn't release new training areas to ease you into level 250, they've done it before.

On the other hand, why bother raising the cap if they wanted you to hit the cap so quickly? I mean they've already provided quite a few ways to get to 200 rather quickly, and they didn't exactly add much for you to do on the way to and at 250. They could've just left the cap at 200 and just been done with it. I'd say they raised the level cap just so they could make it harder for you to reach the cap, at least, until there's actually stuff to do.

The only reason why hitting the level cap in MapleStory is an issue at all is because of the lack of things to do once you reach there. In other games reaching cap is only half part of the game experience as then a lot of content becomes available like all sort of pvp, raids, caravans and such. In maplestory there's simply nothing to do once you reach level cap. Potential makes it so levels aren't even important for bosses while only what? 2 out of all the bosses available give anything worth money at all.
Nexon doesn't want ypu to hit the cap because then how can they keep you hooked to the game?

Here is an update:
The new test server will be released in two days in conjunction with the final chapter of Black Heaven. Now, anyone can join! It is now possible to duplicate your character from the public server and transfer it to the test server. The new test server offers you free stuff (free level up, cubes, spell traces etc.) and if you report bugs, you might receive exclusive items. Data such as cash items, guild, friends will not be transferred.

I'm not sure I approve of allowing everyone into the test server, it actually makes me worried it might end up the same way GMST did. People joining the server with the sole purpose of burning their desire to experience all the (limited) content available in game and then quitting once they are fed up. The iniciative
GSMT also had the option to clone your character from the main server over btw. |
