The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Do you think you'll do any videos of Rebirth? might be fun, especially with the local co-op

I planned on streaming it. I love that the PS4 can just stream with ease.

I might capture it while I'm streaming just in case something fun happens. IDK. We will see ^^

I also plan on streaming it on release day. I'm so excited that it's almost here!

So...I had an amazing run yesterday.

I got Poison Cloud Tears - Basically Piercing Tears. But the range went to total pomegranate on them.
Later, I got Super Close Range Tears, which made tears lose damage as they traveled but started out much more powerful.
At some point I got Lil'Brimstone, which is a follower that shoots Brimstone.
Later still, I got a bunch of deals with the devil for range and damage. My tears started out twice my size.

I got to Mom's Heart...and I can tell they made it harder...but you'd have to tell me how because I slaughtered it so quickly I barely saw its phases. But I know it was supposed to be harder because by the time it was dead, there was shots everywhere from it.

I've encountered some interesting new "Dice" rooms, which have a large dice pattern on the floor, with the number of dots being randomised. Stepping onto the pattern will do something different depending on what number is on the dice.

So far i've noticed:

2 - randomizes all pick ups in the room/on the map, not too sure. like the D6 item I think it was?
5 - Resets the level and re-rolls the layout, starting you at the beginning again (but you keep your items)
6 - Completely randomizes all of your items, getting rid of all the ones you have picked up and replacing them with new ones from the item pool. Absolutely crazy. It completely changed my game once I found this. I got a crap ton of items too, more than I had originally i think.

First Treasure Room has Super Close Range Shots. If you do well enough, you can get 3 Guppy Parts and turn into Guppy(most are in the Devil's Room). Attack Flies aren't limited to 5 anymore. IT'S INSANE.

Dark Bum is such an amazing item. He's like Bum friend from the original game, but instead of picking up coins he picks up all the red hearts and converts them into soul hearts.


In other news, platinumgod.co.uk has begun compiling a list of all the items and what they do. There are way more items in rebirth so I know it's going to take a while for me to memorize them.

I'm not going to look at any item databases. I don't want to ruin the surprise of new items. That's part of the fun.

I've only been using it for devil deal items so I don't end up wasting health on something that may not be useful.

Defeated Mom and the wall to the left blew open, I went through the opening into a huge arena where I fought 20 bosses in 10 waves of 2. Before the fighting started there were 4 items arranged in the middle of the room, and the other 3 disappeared when I chose one. completing it got me another item and unlocked The Nail item

That would have been super intense if I wasn't playing as Azazel. (with Quad Shot. yes, Brimstone + Quad Shot equals brimstone with 4x damage)
I think I also got a star mark for the character on the character select screen for doing it, the same as how you get a heart mark for beating mom's heart

You can get this on every run. You just have to get to mom within 20 minutes. It's pretty cool and gives you motivation to go fast.

AH! I see. I've been wondering what happened if you managed to reach the boss before the clock does. I'll be keeping it in mind for future runs :3

Have you guys tried any of the challenges yet?
The "High Brow" challenge is a lot of fun, it gives you various ways to turn enemies into poop, and starts you off with an item that makes nearly all poops give money and keys and such
and "The Tank" run was amazingly fun, starting you with 7 hearts, damage reduction and letting you break stuff by stepping on them.
"Computer Savvy" was... insane. Technology 1 + 2 and homing shots. You could wipe out an entire room of enemies with chain lightning, crazy.

Meanwhile "Head Trauma" is annoyingly difficult.

I've only done Slow Roll, Computer Savvy (I agree, this was a pretty fun run), and The Host. I popped into a few others to see what the item combinations were and was like "nope." For the moment I'm just trying to unlock everything up to the Devil on all the easier characters.

Slow Roll is such a power trip. I like those kinds of combos. I still haven't unlocked any other characters, gotta get some more hours into this.

I'm now on floor 53. I have pretty much every item available to me at this point in the game.

I've made absolutely no progress whatsoever thanks to this seed, but it is a very, very good way of finding out what some of the new items do, and discovering item combinations.

Sounds like it would be a good seed to use if you were looking for those last few items to finish out the Platinum God achievement... not that anyone will be anywhere close to achieving it any time soon though, lol.

Oh wow. Started a run and got "The Ludivico Technique" from the first treasure room, that stops you from being able to shoot but allows you to control a tear like a second Isaac that damages everything it touches. Then in my next treasure room I got "Technology".

An amazing item combo.
EDIT: and then I got the "Pulse Worm" which makes it shrink and expand constantly. hnnnghghghgh
