How many people are REALLY still playing Maplestory?

I do quality control verification samples in the field too.

hadriel Wrote:Given that they must have video proof of people hacking in action, and that some players have odd/cryptic IGNs like mine (e.g. cbdccb1; yes people have asked if I'm a hacker or not), they can't freeze characters just because they have names that are very hacker-like.
no see this kind of argument is bullpomegranate because
1) not a single one of the two thousand characters I reported has been permanently banned
2) literally 99% of the permanent bans have just been characters that spam ads in the FM.

there is something seriously wrong with the system

Problem is, they don't care if you help them or not. They are just plain lazy.

It's their argument, not mine. I'm just restating what they do. I'll agree that they can improve their system a great deal, but I'm not for guilty-until-proven-innocent stance. I would be very, very pissed if I got temp-banned just because cbdccb1 is like a hacker's IGN, and then they release me without recompense.

I don't know how you reported the 2000 characters. Don't look at me, because I have to know how you report it. Did you report it over 200 days? o.O commendable if you did so. I just report as I see them, and I do see hackers getting banned (from the in-game notice, although the text is a little screwed up).

tickets and emails. I've lost count of how many I've actually reported but 2000 is the most recent.

sure, but they aren't even putting forth the effort to go get their proof. I fully understand that my only ability is to give a nudge and a "look over here".

Ahh... ok. Let's just say that those communication media are... unreliable. They may feel the same about your tickets? Who knows. I've seen more efficient services elsewhere.

80% of the botters that currently bot are Chinese. The other 20% or so are people with private clientless bots, running anywhere from 20-50 bots at once, that sell to the Chinese. A very small number of people find exploits anymore, and an even smaller number are the infamous "hackers playing legit".

It's funny though, that the community just seemed to die when certain trainers and bots started to dwindle off.

On a more personal note, I quit last year and came back a couple months ago. I only logged on to boss however. I got to 203 and now I'm quitting again for good.

I am looking at these people botting right now at monsters that are 100 levels below them. and despite this still gain 22 bil exp a week. In a certain hacker hotspot that has existed for more than the 6 years I've been playing.

I still play and log in every day. I train 3-4 times a week... always blowing my money on this bottomless pit of despair called Maplestory.

I think their lazyness lays on verifiying if xparasite is actually a trustworthy source. If htey trusted xparasite they'd just go through with banning the people on the list he sends with little verifications.

I've always wondered, is it so hard for Nexon to develop a tool that would go through verifying current active characters and mark them as possible hackers based on factors like amount of mesos or experience gained over time?. For example, anyone playing legitly would be gaining a "normal" amount of mesos/experience per hour while most botters use hacks they are capable of surpassing that threshold easily. Anyone going above that limit by alot would be marked as a possible botter/hacker for further verification by a GM.

Isn't that exactly the same as a player reporting a screenshot or video of a hacker to nexon via mail/ticket? They are possible botter/hackers and need further verification by a GM.

They don't do that.

Well they could say that pics can be edited and so can videos so they need to be cautious (lol), but the main problem i see with that is the extra time it must take to first check out what the comunity sends them before checking the player themselves. A tool of the kind I described should be 100% reliable, only giving them an IGN that a GM would then proceed to personally monitor and check things like items, transactions over time and of course training.

why though?
why can't they just check it out themselves?
The severe lack of anything but ad bots in the permanent ban lists suggests that they aren't even taking the effort to do that.

If I were to guess, I'd say they dont want to ban any potential NX spenders because their profits are low due to decreasing playerbase, even if they are hackers.

even if they are vbgvbvbvb5 nbvnbv5699 jfkgfdl454 fgjhghkj nm6576 mmn7990 rsldkgnfd dgfvwfdv nbmn766 esr6jrj egzt22Xd5e?

I've been around since I was in 8th grade, I'm 24 years young now. I had quit for quite a while and "tried" to come back recently. I wish the game had as much as an appeal to me as it did back then but i think it's more of the age thing then how crappy the game got. But it seems like the population is lower than ever. I've been dedicated to Nova ever since it came out and I've never seen the FMs this dead. They should really just make freaking shops cost mesos or start giving more out for free. I just wana see more people in the FM without starting over in a new server lol.

about hacking and botting though, I give Nexon a tiny bit if credit recently. I visit other forums quite a bit and I know for sure hacks are "almost" dead. so many things were patched, public hacks are pretty much useless. some of the most notorious bots almost never get updated and they're pretty much scamming the people who do pay for it lol. the Chinese mesos farmers sell their bots to the public but they barely even work and crash all the time these last few patches. No delay is completely gone.

Or because they know ultimately banning them will do nothing?

Whereas banning FM spambots does do something?
Because Nexon keeps diligently banning thousands of them every month...

Might be an easier process to ban them.
