MapleStory in Korea is one thing, so I can't help believe that it's probably true in pooling whatever resources to MS2...

Nexon and GMS here looks to be something else. For those that read the news that a former executive EA became the new CEO of Nexon America, I bet most of us (or at least me) had that underlying curiosity and concerned feeling on how it would turn out.
I re-read an old article: http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/20...ise?nxid=6
Quote:Mahoney has previously been instrumental in the forging of closer partnerships with Western companies to publish IP in Asia, notably Zynga and EA. Whether he plans to reverse that arrangement and bring Chinese IP to western publisher should become clear in the coming quarters.
That part is what had me curious. He tried doing something with the mobile gaming market first, but it doesn't seem to be working out too well imo. It also seems that his business practices from EA is still sort of in play here. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong or missed something...

Much more recently:
http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/20...lts?nxid=6
Quote:"We want more access to IP and want to be more successful in the West with the kinds of games that will resonate with Western tastes," he said at the time. "But we're also prudent about what we do, so if we see a good opportunity we'll definitely go after it."
Not exactly sure what this will mean for maplestory here, so I'm just curious on what will happen. It doesn't sound all that good and I just don't trust everything he says...

and you are well to be doing so.
Quote:Mahoney also sees a lot of resistance to paying for free-to-play games in the West, something he largely chalks up to the way many games here have been monetized, where developers essentially put a significant chunk of content behind a paywall.

"If you make a game where you can't realistically progress in a game and still have fun without paying money, that's not a free-to-play game. That's an ersatz free-to-play game," Mahoney said, adding, "We made that same mistake 10 years ago. It was a big mistake, and we stopped doing it."
