My problem with Hollywood is that most decent movies are sequels of established series or are in "safe" concepts such as this Batman v. Superman thing.
I mean, yeah, they come up with something truly original once in a while, but most movies are Spiderman 7 or Terminator 13. This looks like a great movie but is in that sort of category.
Steven Spielberg gave an interview and said the current Hollywood model (of giant studios producing giant films) is unsustainable and will have to change for the movie industry to survive. In that same interview, (given shortly after his movie Lincoln came out,) he admitted that Lincoln came within a hair of being an HBO movie instead of a theater one. That's Spielberg talking.

To be fair: T1, T2, and Salvation (4) were all actually quite unique and innovative. I really believe Salvation is a highly underrated film. Even SCC contributed to the world building and was quite enjoyable for the most part. Weirdly, I still haven't seen Genesis (5). So I'll fix that tonight in case that's what you were referencing.
We don't talk about T3
In contrast, I gave up on Spiderman after the second movie and never bothered to see the Amazing variant. His character seemed pretty thoroughly played out and nothing new was really added in subsequent movies.

I wouldn't say Warner Bro's went safe with this movie.
After all...
And it's also one of the major reasons critics are disliking the movie. This movie didn't follow the mold stablished by Marvel in superheroes movies.
Quite a lot of stuff going on at once.

Critics are harshly reviewing the movie because "It's too serious" and "Batman kills".
I loved the movie. Really great acting overall and a lot of gooddies for the future of the DCU.
What do you guys think?
So. frelcking. Boring.

Link; Nice that you enjoyed it! This movie will be one movie that after Justice League and other DC universe movies have gone out, non-comic fans will finally get a lot of the easter eggs.
Eos; Not into comic book movies? Or just the movie in general not to your taste?
Just like "Man of Steel", this movie really divides the audiences, hahahahaha.
As a DC Universe movie starter, this movie was absolutly brilliant to me. As a Standalone movie, it was a pretty good one, just a bit lacking.
I'm quite curious about the 35 extra minutes we will get with the Blu Ray.

Just a horrible movie to me. It spend too much time trying to set up plots that went nowhere, dream sequences purely for the wtp value and just plain boring schet.
The only scenes I enjoyed were when Gal Gadot was on stage.
I hated the entire Chris Nolan batman series too, so I am pretty sure it's just that particular style where it tries to be more than just serious but outright gritty. The only thing that did gritty well for me was Watchmen.

T3 had two good scenes: one, where the terminatrix is walking naked to the car and two, where she looks at the billboard and then inflates her boobs. That movie sucked so badly that it had nothing redeeming about it but these two scenes. xD
T2 is one of my favorite movies of all time. Arhnold really shone and T1000 was a great villain.

This is how I felt about it, it felt more like a montage than a movie. And this was funny;

Even if you didn't like the movie, and even if half of critics hated it, the movie still broke records, and has now the biggest opening ever for a Warner Bros. and DC movie.
Aside from the amazing amount of monie this movie made on USA alone, there has been talk about the fallout of BvS. Aquaman movie will be lighter in tone, while the Justice League movie will have a more tight storyline (since it won't be trying to set up a sequel like BvS did). DCU looks bright.
Edit: Well, International numbers are up, and the movie is now about to make half a billion in it's first weekend.
Quote:Dominating the international market this weekend, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice earned a spectacular $254 million over the weekend on an unprecedented 40,000+ screens in 66 markets. Combined with the $170.1 million from North American theaters, the worldwide total is now already up to $424.1 million!
Internationally, Batman v Superman marks the biggest superhero opening weekend of all time, the all-time biggest March opening, Warner Bros. Pictures‘ biggest opening of all-time in China, and Warner Bros.’ second-biggest international opening of all time (behind Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2).
In China alone, Batman v Superman grossed an estimated $57.3 million from approximately 16,000 screens. The film also opened big in the UK with an estimated $21.9 million from 1,701 screens, in Brazil with $12.2 million from 1,330 theaters, in Korea with $10.5 million from 1,696 screens, and in Australia with $10 million from 535 screens.

I've been telling everyone to save the money and just watch this clip to save some time;

Eh, yea I guess. I still enjoyed the movie overall so I'm not too really mad about spending the money. It's been forever seen I've seen a movie anyway. The gritty interpretation and friction between the two hero philosophies has potential. Maybe they can save it down the line.

A deleted scene from the movie which will be part of the "ULTIMATE CUT" once the blu ray releases has come online.

The scene looks to confirm that Lex Luthor Jr. is indeed a minion of the big bad Darkseid, and explains his anti-meta human and vigilante goals.
Also, the reason they united is beyond "My mother had the same name as yours", but I guess people interpreted it differently.

I saw it with friends and enjoyed it, probably because I get sucked into the drama of anything I end up getting into.
