The >20,000 people playing this daily will keep this game alive for a while.

To be fair, RO2 sucks massively, especially in comparison to RO1.

But it's most likely that they will survive together, because MS2 isn't a gameplay sequel to MS1.

Isn't that going to be the same case with MS2?

Well, yeah, that's the suspicion, but we have no way to know how bad it will be until we get some gameplay, or at least some gameplay videos.

It's certainly possible that it will be good...

Look at Mabinogi and Vindictus (Mabinogi Heroes). The newer game is a prequel of the previous. Both are running just fine.
These two games are vastly different with Vindictus being more linear and more storyline driven (or that's what it seems like from the beginning).

I hope MapleStory 2 isn't linear and is just as open as MapleStory 1.

Maple Story has been in the top 10 ranking games on a weekly basis according to gamenote.com for months now. (Although it got knocked out a few weeks.)

It's not going ANYWHERE.

You are actually comparing it with a Korean site which it will most likely just counts the Korean version of MapleStory and/or all the versions of MapleStory (if anybody can provide this information much obliged), to the actual GMS who at most can get roughly 20,000 players online (and god knows how many of them are bots).

it will last a few more years at least.

yes it has a unique aspect being a 2d game, which gives it an advantage over other games

but there are major problems which need to be fixed, otherwise the pop will continue to decline.
but the game is still rescuable, and im pretty sure they will eventually address the major flaws of the game
