Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion

This is stuff from yesterday but..

Smash won't use touch screen controls

No cross-platform play, however you can "link" them for rewards

When Kirby copies Zelda, he gets a hat despite the fact that Zelda doesn't wear one. So I could see the horn hat working.

Quote: Sakurai says that since each version of the long-awaited game has completely different stages, cross-platform play wouldn’t work.
Ugh.

That was explained in the trailer wasn't it?

3DS version gets stages from portable games, and Wii-u version gets stages from home-console games.

Hence the Spirit Tracks stage on the 3DS version.

albeit there is no cross platform play, they should really make it so you can just use the 3ds as a usuable controller for the wiiu version.

Yeah it was stated very early on.

A lot of 3DS ''ports'' follow this trend as well. It's so you actually have more of a reason to own both versions of the game than just defaulting to the ''better'' experience and staying there.

Speaking of Animal Crossing/Villager in SSB, it seems interesting... But man, some these random people and what they come up with.
View at your own risk as you may never see Animal Crossing the same way as you did before :x

I don't really think it has anything to do with Animal Crossing as a whole, just the way that Villager is shown in the Smash Bros. trailers.

He really does have quite a sinister look

All 3 of the revealed characters has these odd, blank expressions. Heck, Wii Fit Trainer doesn't even have eyes.

I suppose so, and I guess it can't be helped if random people made him more creepy (or just more of a psychopath) than he needs to be. It's still a bit amusing in an odd way. There is this too.

I love the fact that the 3DS version and the Wii U version are different/separate, because that gives reason to buy both. It'd be pretty boring to have the same game, except one in lower resolution on a handheld.

I can't wait for these to come out.

Exactly what I said.

I'm glad it's coming out for 3DS in general though because I just bought a 3DS and probably will never own a Wii U.

I only saw the ND, and I only heard a mention of a focus on portable levels, not that it was because they were showing the 3DS version and that the 3DS version will be the one with the focus on portable game levels.

Honestly, I don't like that at all. Unless part of the "unlockables" is the other version's levels, it's not going to be entertaining to have all the levels split between two games. "Oh hey, guys, let's all play...oh wait, we can't, it's the other game's." Especially since you don't need 4 Wii Us to play it with 4 players, but you'll need 4 3DSes.

Nintendo has almost always done Download Play with the DS. It's one of the best things about the DS.

Anyway, more news!

Smash will feature a single player mode but it will be different from Subspace Emissary.

Will update daily image when it comes.
