Expiring NX
#21
Polantaris Wrote:I honestly wonder if expiring NX is something that would hold up in court, even when it's in the TOS. I mean, they're basically saying your money expires, which if you hadn't converted said money into NX it wouldn't.

Too bad there's never going to be a large enough about of NX expiring to be worthy of a lawsuit over.

As much as i'm sure you'd love nothing more than to have Nexon's asses handed to them in the higher power of the legal system, get real. Like sapta said, gift cards and whatnot are the same deal. If it doesn't flat out expire, it'll be "taxed" by the company that owns the cards until it holds no balance. It's completely legal.

After 1 year, NX Expires. Nexon never used to give out emails but i guess the increase of forum posts about this issue has brought up an emailing system to alert players of their expiring NX.

I don't know whether these things are legal in the US, but they're fairly common around here. And very annoying.

From what I understand, it is actually now illegal in the US to have store based gift cards that expire. They used to, I remember reading the back of gift cards and there being crap like,
"For every year after the first five that this card still has value, the value reduces by 10% until it is empty" or something to that effect.

However, My coworker (whose father is a lawyer and he's going to school for law himself) said that they cannot do that anymore, but I don't know how valid that is. I never really looked it up.

Edit: Also, Debit Gift Cards (Like Visa Gift Cards or Mastercard Gift Cards), while they have an expiration date, they can be replaced with a newer one if necessary. The expiration date is like 10 years after purchase though, so I don't know how many people actually need it, however on the instruction page that comes with it and/or the back of the card it states a number that you can call to essentially renew it. I just recently got one from Secret Santa(How lazy do you need to be to do that? ><) at work and I noticed this.

Pixie Wrote:NX has always expired. Been like this from the start (well since '06 at least).

If you have a balance and don't recharge then it will expire after a year. Basically one year after your last recharge.

It doesn't necessarily have to be recharging, the amount just has to change. I'm almost positive you can buy a 1nx special and it'll be good for another year.
