Rick Wrote:If she's 18 she is not a little girl anymore and can visit you whether her parents want her to or not.
True but I don't want her to get in trouble. It's not worth the risk. And only makes* things more complicated later on.
Abbeh Wrote:I was 22 and my parents still wouldn't let me go to a college I couldn't commute to. It took a lot of arguments to get them to realize they were being retarded.
I'm lucky that my mom knows I wouldn't do things without being completely sure and thinking it through. They had no doubt it me leaving alone to America
and having to sleep on the ground for 18 hours at an airport.
BlueRuin Wrote:Just calm down. If you can't see her this time, there will be other times. If you both feel the same way then be patient, it'll all work out for the best.
That's true. We are patient but it would just be a huge dissapointment...
Justin Wrote:And on the flipside, she's 18, her parents can legally disown her and throw her on the streets should she decide to disobey. I don't know about you guys, but I wouldn't risk free housing and all of the perks having decent parents bring to you over a girl/guy. >_> Especially if things somehow go sour between the two of them and oh look! She doesn't have a home to go back to. It's just asking for trouble if you try to push too hard for this.
Best thing you can do is try to convince her parents you're not out to steal her away from them for the rest of their lives and accept the answer whether it's the one you want or not.
Exactly my thought and also what I did. Don't worry neither of us will go against them if it turns out she can't. We might be desperate for seeing
eachother but we're not blinded by love either.
Rick Wrote:Why were there arguments. If you are 22 and you want to do something, they can not stop you.
You'd think so wouldn't you. Parents can be a huge pain in the ass sometimes.
MrTouchnGo Wrote:They can if they're paying for it.
But in this case I am. I work hard every single day for my money. (Note that this is not my savings account for a car/house etc. It's my own.
Panacea Wrote:Honestly, he's right. You can plea your case but there's ultimately a line that, should you cross it, may cause more harm than good.
Not negative, just realistic.
Like mentioned above, don't worry we wont do stupid things like going against it and just let her come here anyway.
It will only make things a lot more complicated in the future completely losing their trust in me and her.

If you're an adult, you're an adult. Your parents have no say over you.
Hence why, finding a way to move out of your parents house, has some perks to it.
I moved out two days after graduation.

Would you ever kick your kids out of your house? If the parents are willingly letting her stay and such it's because they care about her, I doubt they would just kick her out to fend for herself. Come on, be realistic too.

I know, lol. I was just saying in that specific case (and in most cases where college is concerned).
Any word on the situation?

Not trying to sound mean or anything, but between my experiaces... my friends... and people that Iknow... LDR hardly hardly hardly ever work out. I'm talking about like a 99% failure rate.

Thanks for telling me but it's not going to change anything for me.
I could be like ''Hey its gonna work out for me though!'' but I cant.
you never know. But I do love this girl more than you could possibly imagine.
I have things planned out that I rather don't share because it seems ''pointless''
to most anyway but hey, let me live my dream. And my dream happens to be with her.
I love her. she loves me. We're happy. So let us be.
And just like you, I have a couple of friends who have a LDR who are now married/living together.
Funny how I know a few people from that 1%. Guess i'm lucky. (:

Didn't read a single post in this topic but based on the way you keep saying IT'S KILLING ME I would say it's probably best if you DON'T see her because you have some serious dependency issues. Relationships should not be THAT big a part of your life. Especially long distance ones.

Congrats! I'm glad you're girlfriend is meeting you this summer! I'm doing the same with mine and flying out to Virginia, which isn't nearly as far or as bad, but I can't wait to see her too!
Congrats!

tl;dr: he/she isn't dependant on her, he/she just misses her.

He/she was waiting on the reply of her parents. Which was basically anxiety. Not the needy, but the anxiety of the answer.

I consider myself to be in that 1%, as well.

I am referring specifically to this:
Death Wrote:I love this girl so much... and I dont know what i'll do if I cant see her again this summer.. It would kill me.
I miss holding her and kissing her. Seeing her in person and doing things together like we did with Christmas.
Please help me. I'm scared.. ;_;[/SIZE]
That's not anxiety. Well, it's probably partly anxiety driven but it's a whole lot more than that. And not healthy for either of them.
