Of course I'm gonna be healing before you die at empress. But if you're gonna let yourself die to save some pots at zak... lol you wouldn't believe the amount of retards out there that believe I should be healing instead of attacking even though my DPS is higher than theirs.
Anyways kinda gone off topic and became a rant. =p
Which skills you get depends on which type of bishop you wish to play. Either one is fine.
oh yea, not gonna say otherwise, just that, and blame my class, my DPM at zak and above pretty much doubles if there's a bishop, because i can go somewhat nuts with sac and bossing 30% but if you are partying a hero or a pally and some sins (who aren't omgwtfunded) and hit less than you, then yea, i get you.
but as you said, it's been a long time since i've seen anything remotely close to a funded bishop, finding one for empress has been hell, to the point we do bishop-less runs, but that can't be done anymore after ascension lol ._.

i think it would be incredibly silly of you to gimp one of your party skills so you can do a single sucky pq :f6:

define work, because sacrifice doesn't trigger autopot, only monster damage triggers it, and a dark knight standing on c/zak while spamming sac is going to be losing hp real fast, thank god for the reduced cost post-ascension, but sac is still pretty fast and will drain all the hp in 3~5 seconds, depending on where you're standing, add maple's amazing lag, and you could be lagging without noticing it, and be dead at regular zak (happened me at least 2 times before i started to use the mobs to trigger autopot.)

People expecting Bishops to spend 29 SP on a skill that gives them +435 HP/MP and +9 M.Att (Level 1 Advanced Bless already gives +265 HP/MP, I'd just leave it at that) before maxing any of their attack skills is kinda cruel. Sure I'd love if every single character in the game made their skill builds to center around buffing me too, but I don't go calling them bad with their class if they don't.
And don't start with the "supporting class" thing again, the only reason why people consider them a supporting class is because of the stereotypical cleric role in other games (and to some extent hidden sexism, because of the high female player concentration and the "feminine" role of the class). It's a party oriented class but by no means just a supporter, they have higher DPS than several "solo attacker classes" post-Ascension. Can't people just treat them like every other class?

And how many of those classes that you know in game can you actually out damage?

Obviously depends on funding. I can find people of every class that I out damage. And I'm sure there're people of every class that out damage me.

Then pray tell the point of DPS charts when they aren't ever applicable.

There's no point except other classes constantly throw it in our faces when we're at the bottom. Now it's our turn?

It doesn't hurt to have that thrown at you when it isn't true whatsoever, so it won't do anything to use it to prove a point. I've never found many classes that can out damage me, but none of them were ever a mage.

Don't you find it silly you picked a support class and expect people to find you dependable as a DPS'er?

Isn't it great when people give advice based on what they want in their party instead of what the TS explicitly asked for? It's blindingly obvious if you're partying with someone in a party play area, it's better if they have a party skill that benefits you than something that only increases their dps (and gets more exp for them from you). Forgive them for not always obliging you.
Arcane aim is way, way more significant for bishop dps than advanced bless.
Unlike most classes, bishops actually have a choice if they prioritize dps in skill maxing. I'd say it's practical to have different bishop builds: dps, support, and maybe even survival. They entail starkly different skill max orders. My bishop wouldn't have arcane aim till probably 18x. But for damage, a bishop should max it third after angel ray and buff mastery. Maybe even sooner.

No. Actually, once a bishop gets some %int gear they become rather good at attacking. I myself am proof. When i trained with my guildmates and alliance at LHC bears a few months ago when we were all leveling like crazy after the release, they let me take the upper most bear platform (usually has 2-3 bears on it) for myself. I could kill bears fast enough to keep the spawn rate going at other platforms. The only time i came down, was to rebuff people. They separated into 2 groups, lower and mid. I got top. Now, could i outdamage a mech or sair or dk? no, but i was able to hold my own so well, they just let me do my own thing on another part of the map.
Bishop after big bang is fairly strong. I was even able to outdamage a good friend of mine, who is a I/L mage, and he had slightly beter %int on him and was a few levels higher. He's waay ahead of me now, since i stopped training waiting for jump patch. Sure our AR is slow, but for non-mule bishops that care about doing damage, we can easily surpass 150-200k per hit with AR. The strongest bishop on my server zenith was doing 500k+ dmg with AR when she was in her 180's (200 now). I really dont think you can say we are a support class when we can do that.

500k damage is rather good? Cmon. You're trying to compare a boss fight to a training scenario. And I'm sorry to burst your bubble but 500k does not justify jeopardizing an attacker who's doing 5m.
It's really silly to compare a class that from second job advancement given party skills, to essentially ignore it so they can pretend they do significant damage. I'm not sure of the results over ascention, but I feel like it's greatly exaggerated.
None the less, saying you're an attacking bishop is not only ridiculous but just obnoxious.

Yeah... that's kinda a problem when you can never have enough funding to have such stuff. :/ Or unlucky to not getting that kind of potential like me. :x If you assume little to no funding, still want decent support and damage, what do you do then?
Thanks to this thread, now I'm questioning myself what skill is beneficial to have maxed first. I mean... this is the skill build I have in my head when I go SP reset at my current level...
1 Genesis
1 Res
Max AR
Max Buff Mastery
Max Baha
Start working on Adv. Blessing
I don't know. Arcane Aim and Advanced Blessing are both good, and while I like being a supportive role, I do want to have a bit of power. Thing is... I never anticipated for Arcane Aim books. I was already prepared with Holy Shield converting to Adv. Bless...
Also... KhainiWest, seems like you prefer us to be your buff slaves, huh?
