We commonly use the term “soon” when referring to Blizzard releases, because we know that no matter how hard we’re working to reach a target, we’re not going to compromise and launch a game before it’s ready. For Diablo III, we were aiming to launch by the end of 2011. As we’re announcing globally today, our new target for the game is early 2012.

While this news might not be a complete surprise, I know that many of you were hopeful that Diablo III would ship this year. We were too. However, this week we pulled together people from all of the teams involved with the game to decide whether we felt it would be ready before the end of December, and we grudgingly came to the conclusion that it would not. Ultimately, we feel that to deliver an awesome Diablo sequel that lives up to our expectations and yours as well, we should take a little more time and add further polish to a few different elements of the game.

The upside of today’s announcement is that we will be running the beta test longer than we initially planned, which will allow us to invite more of you who have opted in.

For those taking on the Diableard challenge, we salute you -- and now fear for your well-being and personal hygiene. We hereby issue an official reprieve to all Diableard participants, including Blizzard employees, if you want to trim or otherwise manage the lower half of your face. We’d still love to see your beardly achievements, and we look forward to seeing more of your efforts as we move into 2012, but not to the detriment of your workplaces and significant others.

Thank you everyone for your support and anticipation for Diablo III. We’re still moving ahead at full pace, and we’ll be keeping you fully informed of any news and developments here at Diablo3.com, including the specific release date when the time comes, so stay tuned.

Diablo III Launching May 15 – Digital Pre-Sales NOW OPEN

Welp, TERA is may 3rd, so, sorry blizzard, bad timing. If the game looked a little bit better and followed it's roots a little better, I would buy it first day anyway, but, screw it, I'll just wait for price drop lol.

Players in the listed Latin American countries and in Russia will be able to purchase Diablo III at local retail locations starting June 7. Digital availability for the Russian version of the game will also begin June 7. In addition to the English version, Diablo III will be fully localized into Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, European Spanish, Italian, Polish, Russian, Korean, and Traditional Chinese.

Been playing the beta a lot lately and the cravings are high.

I can't decide between demon hunter and barbarian. I typically play melee characters, but kinda want to switch it up for once. Seeing the class preview videos really made the barbarian more appealing though.

I found the barb to be difficult to work with. Having to charge up Fury to use skills was kind of annoying (and fury drains when not in battle). I actually really liked the witch doctor when i played it. Odd skills that turned out to be really fun, plus summons and stuff (and what felt like infinite mana supply). My first one will still probably be a wizard, not only because i enjoy the skills, but because the male wizard is voiced by Crispin Freeman, who is in a lot of english dubbed anime i watch.

Beta just went Public a couple hours ago.
No one knows if this is a huge bug or not.

Yes, it works. Multiple people have reported being able to play the game even if their Battle.net Account was never flagged for Beta.


As a reminder:
Beta ends on May 1st.

It's the starter edition. From the one thread I read, players from the beta cannot interact with starter edition unless they download (?) and use the starter edition. It will be available until May 1st as well.

They took it down now. Oh well, not like there's a whole lot to do in the Beta anyway.

Played the barb and monk so far, monk is probably gonna be my first character in the full game, just so awesome, barb wasn't too fun since fury goes away when not in battle >.>

There's a passive that allows fury to regen instead of decaying away over time.
