Waste of Time!

Believing that for some reason my luck, notoriously bad, would somehow be better in this game and trying to actually scroll and cube my own bow. 19/28 50%'s with pams songs, that I bought, and ended up having to go to different stores because I bought all the nx cards, then over 100 cubes and still rare. If i'd have just stuck with what I knew, that I cannot scroll or cube my own stuff, I wouldn't have that dreadful bow. I keep it as a reminder now.

What are some things you've done in MapleStory that you would consider a waste of time?

Probably deleting a level 170 Paladin.

All the time spent on boats.

Making so many characters and deleting them after I got bored of them. I deleted a lvl92 CB, lvl80 CB, lvl120 Mech, lvl80 BaM, lvl50 Sin(3 of them), lvl 57 NW, lvl 42 WH, lvl80 Aran, lvl30 Evan, lvl 50 FP(2 of them), lvl40 Cleric, lvl50 Brawler(2-3 of them), lvl40 Gunslinger, and a bunch of lvl 2x characters. If only I spent that amount of time training my Bucc and Paly I've got now.

Buying a tao of harmony for 80m, only to have gachapon boxes and CWKPQ come out right afterwards.

Trying to play Maple after the guild hack destroyed everything.

I started to think about this, and it rings quite true. Nothing was really the same after that point, for some reason.

I did 500 PPQs...good god why.

When I had alot of meso for the first time in my life and decided to test my luck to potential 7 reverse equips.
First I had to hunt (yes hunt) ehm how many pieces of time for one reverse weapon again? 45?
45 for my dagger 45 for my katara 20 for my shoes 20 for my overall 20 for my gloves. Another 40 (These were bought) for an extra set of reverse shoes and gloves.

After I made everything...
I made my mistake...

I bought 5 90% potential scrolls for my reverse overall/gloves/shoes/dagger/katara.

Dagger first. Boom gone. (wow seriously?)
Katara second. Boom gone. (twice in a row? what?)
Overall third. Boom gone. (am i glitched or something.. wtp....)
Gloves fourth. Boom gone. (yeah eh wtp is this pomegranate)
Shoes fifth. Boom gone. (Eh seriously how pineappleing small is the chance of failing a 90% scroll 5 times in a row...)
Extra shoes. Boom gone. (Okay. -tweek-)
Extra gloves. Boom gone. (7 90% scrolls failed in a row? Uhm yeah okay... I'm going to quit forgood...)

I didn't quit. I'm glad I didn't, but thinking back about much time I spent on FINDING those &^&$#&$# pieces of time...
And then wasting every meso I had to get it potentialled. Yeah wow I lost all hope in scrolling back then. It still haunts me...

Just for being curious. Would anyone know how to calculate how small the chance is to fail seven 90% scrolls in a row? I'm dead curious.

Resetting 66 dex from my DrK and trying to make any amount of money in zenith after the first two weeks. Also one time I spent two dollars on those exp Gachapon things when pirates came out.

Spending all my time on a hermit getting it to 101 with ilbis and steelies which were like 30mil(ilbis) and 20mil (steelies) and getting it all taked away from the hacking incident a while ago.

Know I said I wouldn't reply to "Maple" threads here anymore, but this one hit a button. That and I was here waiting to see what Chaos did to my potential-less Snipe damage for the luls. EDIT: Checked. 500k boss to 170k boss. Anyway:

Working with genuine effort for three years to maintain a top 5 position of the Quest Kings of GMS only to have a majority of them wiped clean by Big Bang.
Monster Card hunting. Specifically ZMM comes to mind since I spent 8 months without success hunting over 600 of em in an effort to complete that medal quest line.
A year of slowly Pirate PQing for the level 90 hat back during the initial requirements. Not doing a thing otherwise. Same thing for the ZMM hunting period actually.
Raising my characters all together in a linear fashion so that they could all be within the same well balanced family.
Taking over a friend's guild resulting in a flop of a dead name.
Working for "unique" sets of class equipment that wouldn't have a touch of common in them knowing full well the efforts would be useless as it became easier to find and beyond obsolete.
Hunting for ilbies through the mobs and bosses that dropped them since the days they were 40 Mil a pop and Windia was fresh and bright, to only find my first set years later at spiders on 4x drop with them being worth 8 mil at the time.

Somewhat related.
Creating BannedStory predictions of every single class as I would have them at varying final levels to showcase the class armor sets using only VIP hairs and eyes given from the log-off rewards and then actually doing it (getting the VIP stuff for free over time, not the levels).

And of course the obvious which goes without saying. Really though, the purpose of this "game" is exactly the same as the title of this thread, and that is the intention too. They couldn't get you to waste money if you didn't waste time here first.

Sad day, i remember updating my top paladin ranking thread on sw.net, and then you were just off rankings :|.

Making a paladin after i got hacked, and deleting it @ lvl 149 with 22k clean HP, then, after 5 months, playing maple again when my character got recovered.

All those minutes chilling(waiting on people to get back from the bathroom) on the curse arm at Zakum back before 4th job.

Hunting for Viking parties after Aqua came out.

Riding on boats/planes in-game and DCing before landing.

Fruitlessly hunting for skills to drop in the wrong places when 4th job was first released.

Getting a Black Belt from Mu Lung PQ, then it got destroyed by a potential scroll.

Wish I hadn't bothered with monster cards--wish I hadn't spent NX collecting them.

This and Maple Shields.
