Wow, not even close. As far as sports go, hockey is by far the most athletic, intense and skilled. I don't even like hockey but it's so much more than just running back and forth like soccer/football/rugby/lacrosse

World Champions =/= "Best in the World" even temporarily. It's equal to World League Champions. If there were a hockey match for best in the world (oh wait, there is, it's called the Olympics) then the winner would be considered best in the world. World Champions, especially in sports like this where a very limited number of teams actually participate, is not at all a meaningful term. The same could be said for the NHL, of course.

I agree for Olympics (personally, not speaking for the whole nation), but not for the Stanley Cup. I have already said it, you think that Stanley Cup means a lot to European FANS, but it doesn't. Just because it's the procup of the Americans who think that they are the top of the world in everything, doesn't rank it over World Champions ships. (hence the difference between "world" and "national").

PLAYERS do take NHL over World Cup most of the time. But this is because they play for their NHL team and for their personal career. European countries do not have own NHL teams, some countries hardly even have any players in NHL, therefore fans don't care about it as much as World Cup. Not to mention Russia that has KHL, which is ranked higher than NHL in there.
What you are saying is same as saying that if Russians rank KHL over World cup and NHL, it's the same for the rest of the world.

Once again you were the one to instigate such an argument. Your very first post showed your ignorance and blatant disregard for anything that isn't Finnish. Big woop, Finland won the 2011 World Championships. Yes, that is an accomplishment, but your Finland team has yet to win a gold medal at the Olympic games, nor was their presence heavily felt during the Stanley Cup finals this past week. Both of which are far more noteworthy victories compared to a World Championship.

Stating an absolute fact (that Canada is better than Finland at hockey) isn't exactly Canadian nationalism. Especially since Retalion never actually jumped on you with that. You were the first one to jump on any nationalism bandwagon, and again, you did so in your first post. The only one being blinded by nationalism here is you, since you choose to ignore facts and only believe that because of a single victory in a tournament that does not mean as much as the Olympics and NHL Stanley Cup, Finland is the best out there. You can state that you don't believe they're the best all you want, but you've posted more than enough times for us to know that you do.

Counting both men and women's ice hockey Olympic medals:

Canada - 11 Gold, 5 Silver, 2 Bronze (18)
United States - 3 Gold, 10 Silver, 2 Bronze (15)
Finland - 0 Gold, 2 Silver, 5 Bronze (7)

As far as the NHL goes, they have the 5th/6th most players in the NHL (which isn't saying much considering Canada and the US make up over 75%). Even with that amount, most of them are backups, with a few exceptions of good players.

Fact is when you want to play professional hockey, no matter where you live, you strive to play in the NHL, and to win a Stanley Cup. Those who don't, they want to get an Olympic gold medal. Not a World Championship medal.

Since when did I say the Stanley Cup was more important than the world championships?

2. So what's the title of the winner of the World Cup of hockey? Aren't they the "Best in the world" too? Since both championships hold the same title, then shouldn't we look at when they last played? The last time the two teams played was at the World Cup of Hockey, and Canada won. Though even though I never said it, I'll talk with you about these other's nation's claim as the best:

Russia: Lost 7-3 to Canada...Went 0-7-1 against Canada in the 2007 Super Series.
USA: Lost in Gold Medal game to Canada...twice.Canada also beat the US at the world juniors 5 times in a row before they won once, but still got second the last two years.
Czech Republic: Finished 7th two out of the last 3 Olympics with a Bronze in between.
