Security Expert: Sony Knew Its Software Was Obsolete Months Before PSN Breach
#21
CommanderJinn Wrote:Your self-quote reminds me of the whole Obama and the killing of innocent civilians debate. Anyways, fact is that the group as a whole had no intention of doing it, secondly they stated they would stop attacking PSN, thirdly no previous Anon attacks on anyone has actually gone as far as getting credit card access. Are they capable? Sure. Doesn't mean that they would, as a group, have done and condone it.

Even if it wasn't them as a group it was someone who they inspired, so they're undoubtedly at fault. Also, it's far more likely now that this has become an international manhunt that they would act like they had nothing to do with it because, while anonymous on the internet they have power, in reality they're probably mostly just scared kids.

Yes, and violent video games are at fault for school shootings.

That comparison seemd to go over your head. What you're talking about is "Dont try this at home" while what sarah is talking about is what the middle east is doing to gain independence. One did it, now a lot are trying too, hence Libya.

Sarah Wrote:You can absolutely blame the wrongdoers EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Doing something wrong is ALWAYS ON YOU. Always. There are no IFs ANDs or BUTs about it. And it's not as if Sony did nothing. They just didn't have the NEWEST technology. You might as well blame a bank for losing money to robbers who find a weakness in one of the managers by kidnapping her family and making her retrieve the money for them.

There is no such thing as perfect security. These idiots would have found a way to do this regardless of what Sony had done.

You can't blame the wrongdoers every single time, but you can certainly make it harder for them to do wrong. I understand where you're coming from, in the sense that we are all responsible for our actions, but that is in an ideal world, one we do not live in. While what you say should be true (should, not is), it isnt, and one would be foolish for thinking otherwise.

It'd be silly to carry around that much money without acknowledging that there is a chance that someone may rob you, even if it's wrong. It doesnt matter that you have a "right" to walk around with 4 digits in your pockets, and while in an ideal world, everyone should be able to do that, our world unfortunately just doesnt't work that way.

Regardless of what Sony's done to beef up their security, people might find their way in anyways, but then at least you could say you tried, and it looks better to the public and the customers paying for their services. Essentially, what you're saying to your customers when you have security like this is that your information isnt very important to them, to the point where we dont even feel like a firewall is necessary to protect it.

In the rules, but the term still applies. It was nearly a week before he decided to post essentially spam.

My point is it's a little late to enter a thread, 5 days later just to go "facepalm".
