A Southperry Choose Your Own Adventure! [Story/Game]
#21
Holy pineapple, don't turn that flashlight on. You'll make yourself an easily found target.
Also, yay for getting itamz! Itamz are always good. Though I suspect the food or drink may not be proper to eat, I'd wait until we really need them or we can carefully analyse them under light.

I vote for:
C) Takes a moment to examine himself for more clues.

Don't want to discard our new findings, wanna know what's on the locked book later.

Turning on the light might attract... unwanted attention.

I still want to know where the crap I am. Attracting attention or not isn't my first priority. Not to mention the "unwanted attention" probably already know about you.

But not where we are. He's got a knife too apparently and we're unarmed.

Yeah, the light was my first choice but Shidoshi and Mira bring up good points.

B) Replenishes his energy with the liquid and food.

If he slipped in a puddle of blood wouldn't some of his clothes be covered with blood? So shouldn't his inventory have blood covered clothes instead? Sorry if that sounded picky, I just want to make sure your inventory is correctly updated. Like what I'm getting at is maybe someone might react differently to him covered in blood than if they saw him normally. I'm just being weird and don't want any minute details to get missed when we'll eventually have to re-do some scenes over again.

tl;dr version: Should we be worried about Blood Continuity or am I just overthinking on this?

I honestly didn't think of entering that level of depth. I like it, and I am going to update for details like that from now on.

I'm leaning towards turning the flashlight on, and I'm gonna go with the flashlight being one of those heavy duty ones that you can bludgeon somebody with.

Regardless, gonna go with C) Examine himself for more clues.

I'm going to go with B. Whatever killed that guy isn't going to come back here without proper reason, so staying here should be safe for a moment, if only for a moment.

Updated INVENTORY for accuracy based on what happened in Entry 2 (blood). It's a little crude right now, but I'm gonna try making the INVENTORY quite serious. I'll try to hide secrets within it and keep it mostly accurate to reflect notable changes.

Voting stands at ONE A, TWO B and FIVE C.

Gonna stick with trying first to SEVEN votes for now. If nothing happens I'll lock in C.

A.

Am tired of not knowing where we are. If I found myself in a similar situation, I probably would breathe a huge sigh of relief after finding a flashlight.

C) Why? Don't want to drink/eat something that you don't know what it is. Light = target, as others have said, we/he/I? are/is unarmed

We've already distanced ourselves from the body.

. . . takes a moment to examine himself for more clues.

Seeing the flashlight, his mind races with thoughts and desires. But in a moment of clarity, he realizes the potential danger of being rash in this dangerous situation. The man carefully places the items back into his backpack and focuses himself. He takes in everything around him and everything that has happened. Suddenly, he remembers he has yet to examine his own body for answers.

Reaching into his pockets, the man's fingers are eager for a new discovery. However, he finds nothing but more emptiness. Disappointed, but not discouraged, he starts checking his body more carefully. Just below the waistline, he feels something odd sewn inside his pants. He slowly rubs his fingers around it, taking in the shape... It's a small key.

The man remembers the small, locked book he just found and frantically rips the key out of his pants. He feels like this could be the first real answer he finds. He removes the small book from his backpack and tries fitting the key into the lock every possible way. No luck. It doesn't even begin to fit.

Frustrated, he almost throws the key into the darkness but manages to keep himself from making a stupid mistake. The man places the small book into his backpack and the key inside his pocket. Left with no more answers than he started, his mind urges him once more to check out the flashlight. It feels relatively small with a sleek surface. He shakes it and definitely hears batteries inside. His fingers move to the power button, desperate for answers...

But a soft noise approaching the man snaps him back to reality. Footsteps. With a certain...purpose in their stride. His mind flashes to the feeling of the stab wounds inside that body... The feeling of slipping in that blood... Overcome with fear, he . . .

---

A) Turns on the flashlight to confront the approaching person.
B) Runs away blindly into the darkness.
C) Remains still to brace himself for whatever will come.

 INVENTORY

First to FIVE again for this one! Though I think seven went quite well. I'll probably just change it on an entry by entry basis.

A) Turns on the flashlight to confront the approaching person.

Not only is this my first reaction if I was in the same situation, it feels this is not someone you can just run away from. You have to deal with him sooner or later.

Having some guy with a backpack filled with food and stuff reminds me of Battle Royale, where you're given a bit of food and water and a weapon. If so, then the notebook may even be some kind of Death Note.

Hopefully it should startle our unknown person, and he already knows where we are since he's coming our way. Better to see than not see in a knife fight.

A flashlight is a weapon too.
