Removing/Nerfing Onyx Apples-How would it effect the game?

Devil's Sunrise Wrote:People use a lot more time killing zak, and people's too lazy to kill zak in that much time for that low amount of money. Kinda.

Dunno how Zakum goes on other servers, but on most of the runs I'm on, the majority of time is spent organizing. Show up 15-20 minutes early (depends on hitting the boats), then wait 5-10 minutes at the entrance while everyone gets doored up, then another 5 minutes to get the list and enter altar, then another 5-10 minutes inside the altar fixing the parties. Then spend 15 minutes attacking, and another 5 minutes distributing drops at the end.

For warrior/bowman classes, Apples are about a 65% damage increase. For thieves it's closer to 80%. Either way, the time killing should drop to maybe 25-30 minutes. End result... instead of spending 50-70 minutes, you spend 60-80 minutes on the run. I guess that 15% increase in time matters to some people but it shouldn't, much.

I forget what Ciders add but it's only 65/80% with Warrior Elixirs. Those would decrease the gap a bit.. same for Pineapple Chews (25atk afaik?) etc.

Ciders are 20 atk for 3 minutes I think... but they're 1 per slot -_-

I honestly don't know how removing Onyx Apples would affect the game, since it could go both ways. I do believe it would spell the mitigation of 6-man zhelm services though.

You're right, at least for stronger runs, most of the time isn't spent attacking. My guild has been zakking appleless for a while and our runs almost never go longer than 30 minutes. Also chews are 20 atk like ciders.

The real problem with no apples would be in horntail.

People can die, or DC , run out of pots, buyers can DC or die also... get it now?
Faster run it's, of course, way better

Removing apples would ruin a lot of people's economy, and also HT would take like... 3-4 hours? zakum like 30-40min? the game is already boring, why make it worse?

psychopat Wrote:I think taken out Onyx Apples would be a fantastic idea...

- Zhelm/Horntail pendant prices increase - good... there's too many lvl 50s running around with bought helms
- More pots used in boss runs - good because it takes more mesos out of the economy
- Less pure meso in the economy - good because it should logically cause general deflation (I put should because we all know MS economics are often stupid)
- NLs aren't as broken at bosses - good, puts lots of other classes on par
- Zakum/HT skillbooks and drop prices increase - good for overall economy (more money wasted in taxes), bad for individual players
- No more apples - almost no marriages bought - bad for Nexon

Of course, that last point is enough by itself to convince me that they won't take them out without replacing them with something just as ridiculous...

why it wont happen

Inflation of boss equips and NLs being less powerful. The second wouldn't be so bad (even with me being an assassin, but whatever), but eww, more inflation.

If people marry just to APQ, they're serious whores. I don't think it would affect marriage rates that much (it would be affected, though), and like someone else said people would use more NX to expande inventories, possibly. Maybe even more HP washing.

In MapleSEA the Apple Drop rate is very low, and so I believe they are not used too often in a Boss Fights. I think Apples cost around 32mil mesos at the moment..

Where'd you get those numbers from? All of the marriages I've been invited to or seen smegaed were not random APQ mule marriages.

Can you guys stop finding a way to lessen the game. Holy crap, before all of this, we kept wanting more and more, now everyone wants to take away, and worry about what every other class is getting or doing. Nothing has been game breaking so far, cause everything is available to everyone, in one form or another.

Just cause you don't use it, doesn't mean it doesn't affect you. If people have to spend more time in Zakum or Horntail, prices WILL go up on everything, because it's not just the pot money they want to make up, it's the time spent. No one wants to add more time to killing a boss. They want to take away more time.

Besides the pot price would only raise by a bit, so it wouldn't be as helpful with taking mesos out of the economy as you'd like. You guys are focusing on all the wrong things.

I don't freaking get you guys... why take away things that make the grind less? If you took away the Onyx apples, the 2x, and everything else you guys complain about giving people too much an advantage, even though they benefit us all, we wouldn't have any lvl 200's right now. Don't try to say other wise, cause it's true. Fangblade would still be working at it. Don't tell me he didn't benefit from any of these things, he did, I know he did, cause I know priests and bishops he used to train with.

not inflation just raised prices, inflation is when the value of currency as a WHOLE is lowered. I.e Less buying power, it will slowly drift to higher prices for other zak and ht related items but thats about it.

This is more likely to be because of the fact that people that marry for APQ are less likely to make a fuss about it and want guests/ use NX on smegas over it.

APQ is kinda the point of getting married though Tongue

Also, I don't think that apples are a problem. Nexon isn't likely to remove something that makes money for them either

To me, it wont affect me much in any way but I do believe that will rise the prices of Zak Helms and Horntail Pendants due to the fact that the bosses will take longer to kill without Onyx Apples.

Onyx apples never should have been released for the sake of balance at bosses, but now that they have been released for a long time, they shouldn't be taken out because less marriages = less money for Nexon = slower updates and worse customer service, if possible. To those who say that most people don't marry solely for apq, you'd be surprised.

A decent partial solution is to make them add a lot more magic attack though.

A friend and I married two sets of our characters so that we could APQ together. (Our mains are both female, yay.) That's two weddings for two characters! Eek

Then patch 0.56 brought back massive FM lag that had been cured long before, and made it so that I freeze and disconnect on the boss stage, so... yeah. No more free apples for me.

Wow, a lotta responses since this morning :O

Anyway, I'll put in more input. I think that it would be good if Nexon even reduced OAs down to 50 attack, because then it wouldn't be such a rediculously high damage boost but would still be good enough to be useful. I also don't think it would effect the economy that much as a whole. Sure some prices would go up, but really how many people don't already max out the stats of their items with scrolls? Also, Zak Helm prices wouldn't go up much because it wouldn't be that much more time on a run and you'd save a lot of money not having to buy OAs, which should keep the price the same.

As for HT, I don't think it makes much of a difference either. Doing it would take longer, sure, but that doesn't really limit howw many runs can be done, and even if Necklace prices go up, good (That's more of a personal thing, I think buying boss equips ruins the whole point of having them in the game at all because they become less of a status symbol.)

And doesn't an apple stack even more atk on top of that?

There is an awful lot of time difference between an hour and a half, and 3-4 hours. We can get ~2 runs in the time it takes other versions to do 1 run.

What good does that do now? Everyone still has them, regardless of whether or not apples are removed/ nerfed now.

100% of the marriages I've been in were for apples ;o (I had 2 characters married, one got divorced but will be marrying again)

If you die in a 30 minute Zakum run you shouldn't sell helms ;o
