does homework help you learn?

Yeah, homework helps me learn. And although I also like to complain about homework and the amount of time it takes, it's usually only because I procrastinate that makes it so bad for me. I remember most of the stuff because while doing homework, at home, I can actually take the time to analyze the material instead of just having it go in one ear and out the other like it often happens during class. Well, when I'm actually putting my mind to it while doing the homework, that is.

Don't do homework just to do it. Although I should probably take my own advice, I feel it is true for the most part.

I agree with you for the mostpart, but I'd like to say that learning what you love should be stressed more as I think it is the goal, or "spirit," of learning, and not just a by-product, even if the system does seem to prioritize getting you prepared for work.

homework is good practice. this isnt very noticeable in lower grades or even high school but when youre in college studying more and more on your own, away from teacher, homework makes the difference between an F and an A for an entire class.

Homework basically prepares you for what's going to be on the exam. Well at least for the majority of my tests. I review everything that was talked about & then go over the previous days work so I don't fall behind. You can easily fall behind in a class of over 300 people & have tests consisting material of 6 chapters T_T.

Actually it varies to different people though to most it is helpful.
I have a friend who believes he doesn't learn anything from homework but learns rather from a 'different perspective'. To him, homework is just a waste of time since he reckons it's basically repeating the same question over and over again. (Yes I reckon his response to h/w is odd but everyone is different)

For me, it helps a bit but I dont think its necessary that a teacher has to repeat the method of a question like 30 times. (like using pythagoras theorem in 30 different questions with no additions or trick questions to it)

Depends on what the homework is, how effective it is. However, I failed 2 papers last year because I didn't do homework. I've been doing homework this year and my marks have improved hugely.

writing something down helps your brain obsorb material better, unless you have photographic memory. plus doing homework is like 1/3 of your grade, its easy points

Take any foriegn language and try not doing the homework and see how far you'll get.
