Well, Master Xehanort was wearing the same organization cloak in the opening cutscene with Ven. And he definitely predates the organization. So basically it can be anyone.
I'd say anyone within certain boundaries. Obviously its not Sora lol. Though my real guess is an entirely new character. When SE did the mysterious figure fight in KH1fm, he used a fighting style almost identical to the fighting style of who he really was (Xehanort in kh2). The MF in bbs is using a fighting style that no character so far has used anything like. I'm pretty sure we'd remember someone who could

Just remembered that Braig still used his dimensional abilities (warping the trajectory of his bullets/teleportation/shooting midair/upsidedown) before he turned into a nobody. Could be possible that the Mysterious figure is Terranort before he became a heartless/nobody. I have no clue why his fighting style would change so drastically if that were the case.

First of all, YAY for someone understanding enough of the story to bounce ideas off of. Secondly...

For it to be terranort, the timing would have to be very odd in order for at least one of the three (and likely Aqua at that) to have fought him before the events in the last episode. I'd say it'd be far too much of a stretch to say the fight takes place after the last episode and maintain the terranort idea.
That being said, I don't want to dismiss the idea completely either, bc the fighting style IS similar.
Also, I dont wanna ruin it, but putting spoilers is trouble some lol... so heads up, this thread looks like its gonna get spoiler heavy from this point on.

...isn't it, well, IMPOSSIBLE that it could take place after the end of the story? Since Aqua and Ven can't possibly go back there with how things ended up, and it wouldn't make much sense for Terra to fight himself (not to mention that his ending stops him as well).
...I dunno. The whole Terranort thing is strange enough by itself.
Yeah I was thinking that myself, as I was reading the response. Since technically, no one was around to fight the MF...
Spoiler
Unless you place the fight right before she turned LoD into Castle oblivion. Even then, the story doesn't quite match up does it, since aqua fights Terranort in Radiant Garden =/
I guess it really can be anybody (reasonable within that time period).
Depending on if they really want to stretch it or not, if you place the fight with MF directly after the events at keyblade graveyard, but before the events of last chapter, the fight could be cannon only to Aqua and they just made it accessable to Terra/Ventus players so they had something fun to do as well. If this is the case then theres a slim chance it could be terranort. But again, its a huge stretch.
If we assume its a new/unknown entity thus far, any idea of what side they'll be on. MX did mention the other weilders out in the world, and it was implied in the secret vid that MX might have some followers... think this is foreshadowing MX's army, or maybe it was someone else testing the keyblade weilders who is really on their side?
Also, all this talk has me wanting to attempt beating MF again. Has anyone else downed him? I play Ven on crit. Level 6x and have just the worst time with the guy...
lol I actually don't own the game, I just really dig the story, as convoluted as it is. This also gets me thinking on how the organization got their weapons.
Spoiler
Braig/Xigbar kept his gun/dimension distortion, Roxas kept the keyblade, Dilan/Xaldin still uses spears, Aeleus/Lexaeus still uses an axe, Lea/Axel uses a wheel type weapon (similar to the one he used against Ven)
Obviously there's a correlation between the weapons they used pre and post turning into a nobody.
lol! My roommate hates the story but loves the games (he's dubbed me as his story explainer), while I love both the games and the story. Sometimes I'm not too thrilled about the milking of the series (see: RE:coded), while other times I'm all for trying something new (see: original CoM <3).
Spoiler
I would say more curious than the weapons would be the elements. Each of the organization members was associated with some sort of element (with time, etc. being abstract ones, but "elements" nonetheless). But yeah, back story on the organization would be appreciated. Also, No Heart + Terranort connection would be interesting to learn more about. In the kh2fm+ vid, Xehanort (which is terranort's nobody at this point if my understanding is correct) is in possession of some armor seated in a chair. Its been a while since I've seen the armor, so I can't remember if it resembles Aqua's armor or No Heart more. Since aqua's armor was found with terranort post last episode, it would fit, but at the same time, in the final boss sequence in kh2, the armored guy in the chair is definitely wearing the no heart armor.
No Heart's armour is quite bulky, and I remember that the armour in Xehanort's room is pretty lightweight, and resembled Aqua/Ven's armour. Xehanort also refered to the armour as "Old friend" from what I can remember. That in itself kinda confuses me since Terranort lost all his memories, so he isn't supposed to remember who Aqua and Ven is, let alone who Master Xehanort is, unless he remembered everything after he was turned into a nobody. That would explain how Xemnas can put on the No Heart armour, as he would obviously have the memories of Master Xehanort Which then leads to the question , if he remembered everything pre BBS's finale, wouldn't he be able to use Master Xehanort's keyblade, like how Roxas can use Sora's?
I seriously hope that the next couple of KH games answer some of these questions or else the plot is going to be so full of holes, I don't think it would even make sense anymore by the time KH3 comes out.
Well I will say that so far they've been good about addressing plot holes throughout the games. Granted with every new answer, we seem to get 10 new questions... Point is, I'm fairly certain that most, if not everything, will be addressed eventually.
Not 100% sure what the rules are regarding posting of links, so can a mod edit this if I'm out of line?
Interesting tid bit about Xemnas possibly holding back on use of the keyblade. I also think another possibility is that since terra is presumably still in there somewhere, as well as Eraqus, that they are interfering or posisbly even preventing terranort from using the keyblade, regardless of memories being intact.
Another question though, if we accept that Xemnas puts on No Heart armor, then what happens to Aquas armor? Ansem the wise and his students found it along side terranort, and given that he was the scientist type, I doubt he'd just throw away something that magically appeared on his doorstep.
Also, I'm curious if the details of that find was ever conveyed to Mickey... the Ansem reports from kh1 mention the two conversing and being borderline friends... wouldn't it make sense to tell a friend with a similar type "key" about one you found in the past, the armor, and the boy?
I've only beaten him with terra on normal, and even that was stupidly hard >_>. I have input on the convo here, I just need to think about it before I post.

I would argue that there is more evidence against them having to go be little kids again for it than there is for it. Based on what we know in BBS about the whole ordeal.

Clearly the reason they're kids again is because of the title, dream drop distance.
Clearly they take the tests, IN THEIR DREAAAAAAAAAAAAAMS

Entirely possible... though that makes me wonder, what does the test have to do with raining Soras?
