and he's right, strange matter is much bigger of a threat than a baby black hole.

I think you mean Anti-Matter.

Huuuuuge difference between strange matter and anti-matter. For example, I kinda understand anti-matter but I know pretty much nothing about strange matter, except that they're different. XD

You do know Mayans went by a direct solar calendar. IIRC, we are on a modified Lunar.

Also, it was more then likely a coincidence that happened. The mayan's planned their last day, which happened long before the day they actually planned.

I thought the Mayans just reached the end of their calendar...and didn't continue it?

Plus, the WORLD won't end. Just humans! Heart

Anyway, that machine is quite awesome.

it wasnt THEIR last day, it was everyone's last day.
they predicted in what year they will get overrunned buy foreigners from across the seas as well though.

oh and their predictions and calculations were much more accurate than any other civilization, for instance, they predicted every solar and lunar eclipse til this day.

People are so stupid. Even if they doom the world, it'll be a black hole that causes it, and a black hole that would take a hell of a lot of time to actually become that threat.

Oh, and on top of that, other things that could come about from this don't have much of a chance of happening, for good reasons.

Mind showing some proof of all of that?

Maya calendar ends its first period 21 December 2012 and starts on another one. Noone ever stated that it STOPS at that time, it just starts on new.

It's hillarious how after everything is so safe and nothing can go wrong, it has now broken down and is going to be out of commission for 2 months as they warm up the system to get in and make repairs, then bring it back down to near absolute zero again.

Yep, safe, but broken and leaking Helium.

Leaking helium isn't dangerous. But that's why they were just firing beams without colliding particles. To make sure that it wouldn't break down and if it did, they can fix it before running real experiments on it.

If you can't find a reliable source for your information, that's a good time to start doubting it Tongue

In any case, the big "claim" was that the LHC would produce black holes that would destroy the world in 4 years, thus the 2012 thing came up for no explainable reason. The problem here is that the LHC has now been delayed in its first collisions, which means 4 years after they collide will wind up being 2013.
